Hi All

Am new to this and thought I would say hi and ask for some advice from people who know 😀

5 weeks ago I collapsed watching my son play football and after coming too was rushed to hospital where throughout the day I had another 4 'episodes' with my heart stopping - all a massive shock and to cut a long story short there was no real explanation as everything came back clear from the plethora of tests.

All very weird and because my heart had stopped for 14...

Yoga after ablation and pacemaker.

So I got my 3rd ablation of 2015 on Dec. 5th and a pacemaker on Dec. 6th. For the record, I just love having SSS.
Anyways, it is 2016 and I need to get in shape after years of exercise intolerance. I am looking at yoga and wondering if anyone has an idea of how soon I could try some gentle yoga. Different doctors give me different ideas.
I have been cleared of restrictions on my left arm as of last weekend. So I can lift weight with that arm and raise it over my shoulder according to...

I Have fallen victim of the condition known as "Lead Crush". I will be under the knife again Monday and getting a new lead installed.
The issue and question is How do I maintain upper body and what exercises MUST be avoided so not to go through this again.
all I get is general statements about "no upper body workout".
It's not that simple !
I have spoken to a Professional trainer and he said a great deal of upper body strength training would be ok but I get nothing but the g...

Gym advisable?

I have had a pacemaker for 7 days so very new to the experience. I had my stitches out today and am feeling very good, if a little tired. I am starting to wonder when it will be advisable to go back to gym. I don't do much except walk and break into a jog every now and then, anyway.

Falling hard with a PM

hi everyone:
Long time listener, first time caller. :)

I have a dual lead Medtronic PM implanted in mid-november 2015, to be followed by a revision surgery November 24 for lead perforating the ventricle wall and consequent pericardial effusion.

Doing great now, overall, but the other day, I tripped and fell HARD with outstretched hands onto a concrete floor the other day. It was a complete wipe-out. :}

My left collar bone (the PM side) is still pretty sti...

Query: when to exercise

Hi. I had my PM implanted last Dec 16, 2015. There is no pain in the incision area but there is tightness around it up to the armpit. I am already worrying that I might have a frozen shoulder. When can I exercise my arm to relieve me of this tight feeling? What is the best exercise or stretching for me. I am 61 y/o.

Wired athlete

Hi guys and gals! My name is Peyton and I am a new recipient of a Medtronic pacemaker. Feeling better than I felt in years and am counting the days until I am green-lighted to run and surf again. Anyway, this is the best forum for anything pacemaker and just about the only place I've found for any info on sports, support, tech info, etc! If you are on Facebook then check out a page I made called The Wired Athlete. Feel free to post your stories, pics etc. I'm trying to get the word out that pace...

One elliptical better than another

My pacemaker seems to be different when i am on one elliptical vs another. An old one that has more "bumps" makes my pacemaker "kick in" and I feel better and can go longer on it. The new one or when i am walking, nothing helps and i am tired and have lots of shortness of breath. Anyone have this issue?

Swimming

Help, I recently went back to swimming laps after 30 years. My favorite strokes are free style and butterfly. I just found out that those strokes could tug on my leads on my pm. I am so upset and wanted to hear what other serious swimmers do. I have a very stressful job originating mortgages and my drug
of choice is excercise. Swimming has always been a love of mine and I fell back in love with swimming laps. Advise?????

Rate réponse optimization

I am trying to determine if rate response optimization should be on or off for my pacemaker. I have an Advisa DR MRI Sure scan pacemaker model A2DR01 which was installed in January 2014. I am a 62 year old woman who is very healthy and exercise regularly but had bradycardia and my HR was as low as 27 and regularly in the 30's before my pacemaker was put in. My current range is 55-165 and ADL is 115. I am paced virtually 100% of the time. We have continued to move both the slope of the lines and...

Exercising after changing permanent pacemaker box

Hi,

On the 02nd of December 2015 I had my PPM box changed. The first box lasted me approximately 7 years.

I have since fully recovered with no discomfort / pain or any other symptoms which may be of concern.

Can I now go back to my usual exercise routine of lifting weights? I have been lifting weights from a very young age and stopped for about 6 weeks when I initially had the PPM installed in 2009. Since then I have been lifting weights on a very regular basis.<...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
