My phys therp had me stand in a doorway, palm against the jam, with my palm at shoulder height, walk towards the room sliding palm upward till you feel tingling. Hold for 5 seconds, then lower palm back to shoulder level, repeat 5x, twice a day.
Information please

I noticed a lot of posts talking about weight lifting movements. After spending hours looking up information on the subject there's nothing clear about doing lifting above the head. Doctors tell everyone not to do anything because it's the safe legal route to the answer but I don't believe it's accurate. I understand the clavicle crushing. If it was so bad then there would be other things beneath ( subclavian vein and the neck muscle attachments) that would also be damaged. I'm thinking they wou...

I'm just wondering if there are any therapy type exercises that I can do to stop my muscle near my pacemaker from feeling so weird? I really don't know how to explain the feeling but there is no pain. I've had my pacemaker for almost a year now and this irritating feeling comes and goes. It feels like my muscles are too tight in my armpit area and pacemaker area, it feels like the muscles are pulling too tight on my arm, armpit, and pacemaker with any movement or even just sitting here. It seems...

I'm confused. My HR is low ~40bpm when I'm playing with my dog or out jogging. My HR should be high but it's been low during those times. My HR goes back to normal after a couple minutes after taking a break but I cant understand why I'm beating low... Should I have my settings changed? call a tech and explain?

I've been doing well for the last few months. Changed to a low carb diet and the "spells" where I felt like I was going to pass out went away...Have had occasional times where I was light-headed when I stand up too fast or bend over, but feel that is probably normal at 68.
This weekend I went zip lining with the family...kids and grandkids had not been, I had. No problem at all on the lines, but started noticing I was having problems on the stairs going up to each new level...each was...

Hey. I just got my first PM 2 weeks ago for SSS and I´ve just started to realize that I´ll have it for the rest of my life. I´m still having troubles with that. Im 30 years old and I really didn´t see this coming.
One of the reasons is: Doctors told me that with a PM I could do almost anything but martial arts. I´ve been practising Kung Fu zwice a week for 2 years now and I really don´t want to stop that. I´ve had problems for with my joints 13 years so there´s a lot of things that...

Been shopping and there are a lot of new ones out there. Microsoft Band 2, Fitbit Surge, Charge HR. You have to keep swiping, toggling to get HR. But I'm hoping the Mio Alpha 2 is going to have full time BPM display as default display. ALL the others now with their updates installed revert to a time display unless you are in a work out mode of some kind, which I assume depletes their batteries. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

HI, I'm Rhea and I'm 13. A few weeks ago I was playing hockey and I was in defence on a long corner (with masks so the ball doesn't hit you in the face). So the ball avoided my face and went right into my icd. I live in the UK and I have a ski trip coming up, my parents want to get a protection thing, but there aren't any that ship to the UK or are a descent price.
Need advice!!
Can you ski after Pacemaker implant?

I'm one week new to pacemaker, and very concerned about skiing and if my IPG can be adjust so I can ski, which is my passion. I could not even rollerblade 1/2 mile compared to 6 miles two weeks ago. I am concerned the motion (and skiing) may be too smooth to activate the pacemaker. My pulse didn't increase skating on blacktop, left me dizzy and fatigued in no time. ;(

1st implant anniversary today.
In that year I have run the London marathon 3:37 (pb by 22 minutes) and 3 half marathons the most recent being Cardiff in 1:33:37 which at 64 seems ok.
That's the self praise bit but the reason for posting is to say thank you to those members who gave me guidance during those difficult first few weeks and months.
Without your guidance and encouragement I would not have challenged the hospital who were saying 6-8 weeks with no running. W...

post pm fitting I have found that my heart rate is quite a lot higher when I exercise. I am used to training with a h/r monitor and work in different intensity zones, so it has been easy to see the changes.
I am 3 months post pm now and these changes in h/r whilst exercising have not improved.
Today whilst cycling quite a hard session my heart hit its vo2max 180+ something it never did prior to pm being fitted even though I trained as hard if not harder. I also felt as if I was going t...

Has anyone had experience with weight training ( eg bench presses, barbell curls, chins etc) after a pectoral muscle implantation This is, of course, after everything seems to be healed. The pectoral muscles seems to be used for just about any arm or shoulder exercise and will the pacemaker be a risk with vigorous contraction of the muscle?

I put this under exercise. Please help. I'm a female, post-menopausal. Just started new relationship. Sex the other night-blood everywhere-no pain, no problems. I think it was the warfarin as my readings have been up and down. Very embarrassing. Any other ladies with this problem?

I'm 30 years old with congenital heart defect. I recently had an ICD and wire replacement as there was a fault.
Before this my doctor was happy with me swimming a mile a week but now advises against it as it may have caused a fracture in the pacing lead due to 'repetitive arm movement'.
There are some with pacemakers who think this is true and others who happily distance swim, and do other upper body activities with no issues.
I love swimming and want to do more upper body exercis...

So,
I've been wanting to give Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a try but have been a bit hesitant because I have a pacemaker. I had my pacemaker implanted March of 2013 because of bradycardia and have had no issues since my surgery in regards to my device itself. My main concern is having my pacemaker become damaged due to the rolling around, which could put weight on the pacemaker itself. The pacemaker is subcutaneous and lies on my upper/mid left pec.
Any help would be greatly apprec...

I got my PM about 6 weeks ago and my cardiologist said it is no problem for me to resume swimming with no restrictions. He did say that it would be probably be best to swim in grounded pools. I have spoken to a couple people who have been swimming at our local YMCA that is ungrounded and never had a problem. Is this a concern as most older pools are ungrounded. thanks TFR

Hi all
I had my dual pacemaker fit in August. I have noticed when exercising now that my h/r goes higher quicker for less effort than before my pm and takes longer to recover.
Has anybody else experienced this?
The pm was fitted for heart block and bradycardia snd and pm kicks in at 40. Not being paced for anything else
Thanks

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
