Life lessons are things we learn from past experiences of sorrow and regret. This cite seems as a family pacers. We can all relate and some ways depend on each other. Everday, I think how fortunate I am to be alive, and to have a heart problem. It seems strange to thank God for such a strange thing. To thank him for heart problem, but my pacer has taught me the most important life lessons even as easy concepts they are that does not mean we all grasp them.
The biggest pacer life lesson to...

Hello Good People,
I haven't been an active participant in this forum very long but I've been reading the postings for months. As a result I know many of your names and have seen your pictures. I knew we all had something in common in that we all have a pacemaker or ICD. This week I see we have even more in common. That being this season seems to bring out thoughts and memories that have some of us feeling just a little bit down. Well today I received this link from an acquaintan...

I had an av node ablation in Feb. 2006 and have a two lead Biotronic pacer that paces in my atrium at about 17% and 100% in the ventricle. which means that I am 100% dependent on this little sucker and they tell me there is a five year warranty on it. I am wondering how long it can be expected to last at 100% pacing. I believe it is set at 75 to 135 and I have a high heartrate when I am trying to relax or go to sleep. I can feel it in my heartarea and also in my back, It seems to be beatin...

Ok, these are real questions asked by friends of mine:
When telling a friend I had a PM, she asked if I could live forever... should have said yes...
When telling a camp counselor I had a PM, she asked if I got one before I got old.
When thinking out lound in the girl's locker room after gym, (Oh man, I have a PM test over the phone!) a girl asked if they were going to take it out and put it back in.
There shall be more in the near future...
Wondering...

I was just wondering if I could pursue a job as a pediatric cardiologist because I know for a fact that I would have to handle magnets. This is the only job I really want and can not think of anything else so if I could get that clarified I would be so grateful. Thanks!!!!

Thanks to Smitty and Jessie for answering my query. I feel a really Blue Australia tonight. Christmas is galloping towards me and it is a time of year that throws me into deep deep depression. This year the cards lay in a pile, no decorations, no tree, no extra fare in the cupboard. I feel very very tired and would love for one of my kids to make the effort for a change. "Hey Mum & dad, why don't you come up to us this year?" But my married sons have never done their turn. Funnily enoug...

Hello to all my fellow pacemaker recipients! If you or somebody you know is going to get a pacemaker, it isn't so bad. I am 13 and have had my pacemaker since I was less than 24 hours old. The only thing that I don't like is 1 that I can't play contact sports (I really want to fence!) and 2 the echos. I absolutly can not stand them! If you are concerned about iPod interference, I can tell you, I have a huge video iPod and it has not bothered me so far.

Sandra's posting about ICd's and Pace makers ..and it is nice to know it seems to be working well for her, and also noted Dominique's response... Hi Dominique!! I have Dilated cardio myopathy and had an ICD implant because I was at risk of SD.
I just wonder since my heart is all over the place all of the time why do they not pace my heart with one of these dual bits of kit... I guess there must be a reason... but I never seem to get an answer from the meds... perhaps some one here co...
