All went well. I made sure before they started that the Upper Tracking Limit would be left at 150 even though I'm 82 yrs. The Medtronic rep looked at my report and agreed that I was handling it well and not pushing myself.
Another interesting thing is that my PVC's, both single and runs dropped a lot this last 3 months.
I've got estimated 4.5 yrs left on the battery, and the leads look as good as when installed in 2004.
I wonder if I will still be able to convin...

Hi, I recently had a PM put in, my first, and the whole process was done under emergency conditions, with 11 days in the hospital. I had 3 failed procedures and a drug reaction before I had an AV node ablation and a 100% paced PM put in. This was done while I was out of state traveling.
When I got home I made an appointment with the electrophysiologist associated with my cardioligist’s practice. Without any preparation or comment to me, he turned my pacemaker off! I ha...

They had the settings on my PM set to "sensitive activity" for it to go up because I will be more active this summer with walking and gardening, grandkids etc. Prior, I could not get my HR up pass 100. So now the problem ,I make a bed and it goes to 120 heart beats per minute...chest feels pressured, short of breath and B/P goes up along with the lower number...problem with this I am getting dizzy a bit . Palpatations too. Leaves me weakish, short of breath, etc etc..and tired. .NOT liking i...

I called Medtronic's customer service department on Friday to ask a question about one of my settings. I was told that they are not medical doctors and they couldn't give me any advice. I tried to explain that I wasn't looking for advice that I was looking for information about a setting. I was told to call my doctor and he would explain everything I needed. The reason I was calling Medtronic is because my doctor wasn't explaining it. Any suggestions on how to get the customer service departmen...

had my check-up and PM just pacing along. No epicodes in the last 9 months at all. Have found out that I use the Pm 90% of the time and it has 5 to 6 years of battery power left.
I did the walking before the check-up like suggested and it showed nothing so either my mind is making me lazy or my legs are weak from not getting my walks . So now looking for some easy on the knees exercises to strenghten legs and knees . I have 1 knee replacement and other knee not good.
Been told to cont...

I have had a PM for about 5 years now, and never felt as good as I did as before getting the thing. I finally went to a new doctor, who was great! I got the telephone call in thing right away, and she dropped my pulse from 60 to 50. I also got on the treadmill for the first time in 5 years, and she diagnosed heart flutter. I had a simple ablasion proceedure down in Denver, where they stuck a probe up a vein in my crotch, (gulp!) ran it into my right atrium, and burned a line...

I went to a new cardiac doctor today for a second opinion and I met with him and a Medtronic Rep. I have an Adapta 2 lead pacemaker. When the rep looked at my settings he said my DDDR should be AAIR = DDDR and changed it. Does anyone have or have had this setting and can offer some information on it. My doctor did say that since I don't pace in the ventricles that the new setting is more beneficial. Since the change I keep feeling skipped beats, so I'm not sure if the change is causing it. Thank...

Hi, advice would be welcome. I am having my first pacemaker clinic check up to-morrow 26/3/12 after having my PM fitted on 22/02/12. I would appreciate any help on what sort of technical stuff I need to ask about to make sure all is going according to plan, and the technicians are on the ball. I know very little about the actual setting parameters,so advice would be great. I live in the UK,but I guess the settings are pretty standard worldwide. Thanks in advance for any help,I'll follow up and p...

On thurs 29th of this month I go in for my check-up. Need to ask some questions of you. I still have my walking issues. Can only go a short distances and run out of steam. Almost like hitting a wall and get short of breath. Now I miss my walking and on my last appointment (9 months ago) ask the dr what could be done. He said he turned on my responce rate thingy. Helped abit, not alot though. So my question...what do I ask to have done to help this issue?? Also play out quickly. Not willing to g...

I've had a defibrillator/pacemaker for about a year and a half now. It's used to keep my upper and lower chambers beating at the same time, but also has the power to shock if I were to ever get a VT.
However, I constantly feel like my heart doesnt get to 'rest'. At night I can hear it working, it sounds like a mixture of a metal gong and chimes. I always feel tired and drained and my heart always feels like its 'heavy' pounding, not fast, just heavy. I also have slight anxiety all d...

I am going see the pacemaker technician tomorrow and want some more information before I talk to him. Is there someway to know when or if your pacemaker should be turned up or down? Faster or slower? Does anyone know if there is an 'average' number or if everyone is different?
What do you do?

Hi to all,
Just wondering, what do you do? My recent echo showed enlarged atrium and two valves with small leaks. I am 100% paced in both my atrium and ventricle. This is all new since Dec. 2011. I have 2 years left on my PM and my doctor said that since my ventricles are not working on their own, he will have to put in a temporary PM in order to update my permanent one. I am told not to get excited or upset and just do what I can. It is hard not to get excited about life and the peop...

Hi, It's been 3 weeks since I had pacemaker replacement surgery and I feel fantastic. I am lucky, I healed fast & am able to do almost anything. I'm still being cautious about lifting with my left hand. Pacemaker is 2 inches below collarbone on left side, since I'm right-handed. I'm a 64-year-old woman and this is my 3rd pacemaker. I wish everyone could heal as fast as I did. Have a new monitor for phone checks, very high tech, did a trial test when I received it via UPS, it's like somethin...

I'm 41 and had my pacemaker put in October of last year. I'm still struggling with getting the rate response set to where I like it. I went to the pacemaker clinic on Tuesday and met with the tech and the Medtronic rep. After several attempts to help me I left the office not feeling very well. I knew they turned on the atrial preference pacing, but what I didn't know was they changed my threshold rate from med/high to med/low. I was experiencing rapid heart rate during minimal activity, so they...

Does anyone knows if Vonage works with the transmitter? I don’t have a land line and a company charges $16.99 a month for the adapter to be used with my cellular telephone.
Thank you!

I've had a PM for 5 months and I THINK that I have finally got the settings right. I am a 73 yr old UK male who runs, cycles and plays tennis ..." fit for my age ", they keep telling me.... but it's the age bit that has been the problem from Day one
Brief history :-
- Implanted with PM which had ex-factory settings , max HR set at 130bpm . I could run for half a mile, then hit a wall of breathlessness.
- After much persuasion from me, PM max HR is raised to...

Hi friends,
My DDD pacemaker settings were changed about 3 months (post atrial flutter ablation) ago and they changed my Heart Rate from 60 down to 50 bpm. I have noticed that when am sitting still and my HR is under 60 that I get lightheaded and BP will drop. My BP has been taken by different people and drops Below 100/ - It seems to be increasing and becoming more annyoying - Could this be from my pacemaker or simply vasovagal and just live with it?
A holter test was done a...
