On thurs 29th of this month I go in for my check-up. Need to ask some questions of you. I still have my walking issues. Can only go a short distances and run out of steam. Almost like hitting a wall and get short of breath. Now I miss my walking and on my last appointment (9 months ago) ask the dr what could be done. He said he turned on my responce rate thingy. Helped abit, not alot though. So my question...what do I ask to have done to help this issue?? Also play out quickly. Not willing to g...

I've had a defibrillator/pacemaker for about a year and a half now. It's used to keep my upper and lower chambers beating at the same time, but also has the power to shock if I were to ever get a VT.
However, I constantly feel like my heart doesnt get to 'rest'. At night I can hear it working, it sounds like a mixture of a metal gong and chimes. I always feel tired and drained and my heart always feels like its 'heavy' pounding, not fast, just heavy. I also have slight anxiety all d...

I am going see the pacemaker technician tomorrow and want some more information before I talk to him. Is there someway to know when or if your pacemaker should be turned up or down? Faster or slower? Does anyone know if there is an 'average' number or if everyone is different?
What do you do?

Hi to all,
Just wondering, what do you do? My recent echo showed enlarged atrium and two valves with small leaks. I am 100% paced in both my atrium and ventricle. This is all new since Dec. 2011. I have 2 years left on my PM and my doctor said that since my ventricles are not working on their own, he will have to put in a temporary PM in order to update my permanent one. I am told not to get excited or upset and just do what I can. It is hard not to get excited about life and the peop...

Hi, It's been 3 weeks since I had pacemaker replacement surgery and I feel fantastic. I am lucky, I healed fast & am able to do almost anything. I'm still being cautious about lifting with my left hand. Pacemaker is 2 inches below collarbone on left side, since I'm right-handed. I'm a 64-year-old woman and this is my 3rd pacemaker. I wish everyone could heal as fast as I did. Have a new monitor for phone checks, very high tech, did a trial test when I received it via UPS, it's like somethin...

I'm 41 and had my pacemaker put in October of last year. I'm still struggling with getting the rate response set to where I like it. I went to the pacemaker clinic on Tuesday and met with the tech and the Medtronic rep. After several attempts to help me I left the office not feeling very well. I knew they turned on the atrial preference pacing, but what I didn't know was they changed my threshold rate from med/high to med/low. I was experiencing rapid heart rate during minimal activity, so they...

Does anyone knows if Vonage works with the transmitter? I don’t have a land line and a company charges $16.99 a month for the adapter to be used with my cellular telephone.
Thank you!

I've had a PM for 5 months and I THINK that I have finally got the settings right. I am a 73 yr old UK male who runs, cycles and plays tennis ..." fit for my age ", they keep telling me.... but it's the age bit that has been the problem from Day one
Brief history :-
- Implanted with PM which had ex-factory settings , max HR set at 130bpm . I could run for half a mile, then hit a wall of breathlessness.
- After much persuasion from me, PM max HR is raised to...

Hi friends,
My DDD pacemaker settings were changed about 3 months (post atrial flutter ablation) ago and they changed my Heart Rate from 60 down to 50 bpm. I have noticed that when am sitting still and my HR is under 60 that I get lightheaded and BP will drop. My BP has been taken by different people and drops Below 100/ - It seems to be increasing and becoming more annyoying - Could this be from my pacemaker or simply vasovagal and just live with it?
A holter test was done a...

Had my 5week check up today. Thanks to all your help with the pacing issues i was having. My doctor shut off the rate response due to these issues. I asked him so i didn't need this on? and he said not sure we can shut it off and see if you feel better without it. I know i don't have the pacing going on - i could tell right away when riding in our pickup which is where i really noticed it. The question i guess i failed to ask is if i do need this on how will i know?? He also mentioned that after...

I had a Medtronic MRI SureScan installed 5 weeks ago. It is set for a low rate of 60 bpm. Rate Response is "OFF". My concern is that, sometimes while exercising, my heart rate will SUDDENLY drop 25-30 bpm as soon as I stop (or maybe sit down). An example is a sudden drop from 100 to 70. I get very light headed when this happens. Is anyone familiar with a setting that will taper this drop down gradually?

I was feeling like I couldn't "get out of first gear" when I was exercising, so the doctor reset the rate response on my Medtronic. I felt some better but asked that it be reset again and that was a mistake that made my resting RH stay at around 90-100 and I think screwed up my blood pressure too. Anyway, they reset it higher and I feel much better. However, now that I have been monitoring my blood pressure and heart rate I have noticed that something like washing the dishes will make my hear...

My blood pressure was going crazy (up at 160/90 in the middle of the night, etc.) and my resting heart rate stuck between 90-100 all the time. I thought it was something to do with the ablation I had 12/9/11, but since my rate response on my pacemaker was reset to medium two days ago, my heart rate is back to around 70 (still should be a little lower) and bp normal!!!!! What a miracle--after 6 weeks I have my body back. Too bad all health problems are not so simple.

Hi everyone. This is my first post, although I read avidly and want to thank you all for your wonderful advice. I am 38 and I had my PM put in October 17th due to Sick Sinus Syndrome & Lupus attacking my heart. My lower setting is at 60 and my upper setting was changed from 130 to 140. I just can’t get going and am fatigued a lot and I have 3 children, 2 with special needs, so I need to be at my best. I also wanted to start exercising again.
I had my first visit with the...

Had my dual chamber pacemaker implanted December 2011. The Doctor had problems getting it in and I had a haematoma afterwards. Have been off work since due to extreme bruising (whole of left breast was black and still has faint marks). Went for check up
end of January and was told that the lead to the ventricle was not pacing but only sensing. The technician bleeped for the Registrar who took the results to a Consultant. On his return I was told that it would have to be replaced as the...

Had my usual pacemaker check and again they checked by raising my pulse to 120, my heart tries to fight against this and they always have to take it a little higher.
Question is does anyone have a couple of days where they have more ectopic beats after a check ? Can it upset your rhythme for a day or two ?
I ask this because I was woken last night with a flutter, not lasting long, but not usual for me, in actual fact I have been really good lately.
Be interest...

My pacer is two weeks old and at the interrogation last week they changed my rate from 60-70.
BUT when I got home I noticed that every time I even MOVED a muscle my rate went to 92. Big hard ventricular beats. I got scared and thought it was atrial fib But I toughed it out for a week. I took a full strength aspirin every day instead of baby aspirin. Just in case.
I saw them again yesterday and they had enabled a Rate Response mode that was supposed to kick in when I wa...
