I am having Pacemaker , Biotronik make Evia DR T since 6th June 2011. On 26th October 2014 Doctor has put " Rate Drop Response " ON. Will it have any effect on balance battery life ?
What will be expected balance battery life of the Pacemaker ? What is normal battery life of a Biotronik make Evia DR T pacemaker ? If it is required to change battery then only battery will be changed or the existing one has to be replaced with new pacemaker ?

Hi. Im new here, so forgive me if this post is in the wrong area!
My husband recentlyt had his pacemaker battery replaced, in August. He noticed some "pauses" in his pulse, i.e. 2-3 beats, then pause, then 2-3 beats. He had it checked with a phone check and they told him they were benign extra beats, but have his electrolytes tested, just in case. All lab work was fine. He's going in on Monday to get the pacemaker checked, but over the phone someone told him it's not the pacemaker, an...

Hi,
I recently had my PM replaced as well as a new lead installed. The old lead was capped and it is currently on top of the PM, OK... more like half on half off. It is not comfortable. I spoke to the doc and he said it must have moved, but it was there when I woke from the operation. Anyway, he is going to place it under the PM. I'm not sure that will be any better. So, what I would like to know is where is a capped lead normally placed?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi all- i'm new to this forum. I'm 40 and have had my defibulator (on my 2nd) since I was 28. I'm due for a battery change in the next few months and now the doctor is telling me my lead is requiring more ampage and so she thinks that means there is something wrong with the lead. She mentioned having it extracted but everything I read says that is risky. I have a 4 and 6 year old and am very scared to not be with them. I've been crying since Wednesday! A previous doctor had told me if the...

Hello Everyone, It's been a while since I have been on the site. Hoping everyone is doing well out there in Heart Land. I wonder if anyone can help with my question. Looks like I am facing having my atrial lead changed due to immense irritation of my pericardium. Long story, brief summary. My current pacemaker was placed just over two years ago, and I have both atrial and ventricular leads though only the atrial one is being utilized to keep my own native heart rate from dropping below 45. I am...

I've had my DD Pacemaker for almost a year now and most od the time I really forget I have it until this morning. Yesterday I was using a cultivator with a battery pack. I'm left handed and of course the pm was implanted on the left side. Totally forgot about the warnings that are in the book. When I woke this morning I felt bad and I took my BP and Pulse thinking that I may be in A-fib. Nope but my pulse registered 47 and my pm is set at 70.Humm I got a cup of tea took it again and my pulse was...

Hello All,
My name is Michelle, I'm 26 years old and have restrictive cardiomyopathy and a pacemaker. I recieved my dual lead medtronic pacemaker in 2009. I found out a couple years or so ago that one of my leads isn't workig properly and because of that it is draining the PM battery quicker than it normally would. They aren't sure why, but they are guessing that there is too much scar tissue around the lead causing it to work harder than it should. If it continues to decline at a con...

My pacemaker was implanted in 2000. I immediately began to have problems with inappropriately attached leads. This caused many problems over the years. I struggled with unwanted shocks and palpitations, etc. for about 7 years. First we turned off one chamber, then finally the other. Eventually the leads really shorted out and depleted the battery. In 2007, I convinced my doctor that I no longer (or never did) need the device and he and I agreed to leave it implanted. It has now been off fo...

I've never heard of EOL/elective replacement. If it's elective replacement does the insurance company deny payment because it's elective?
Does any one else feel their pacemaker pace? I'd like to know which percentage feel it and their ages? Not a STUDY as in offical but I just wonder

I am due for a replacement of my 3 leads CRT biv-pacemaker, on september 1 battery life was 2 months left, I have to see cardio for a pre-op appointment but he is not in hospital whole month of september so I have the appointment for 30 september and then I get to hear when I get a replacement. On september 30 I have just 1 month battery life left. I find this a bit late and strange. Some years ago my pm technician said they did not wait for last months but now they do leave it late. Question i...

Hi I'm about 4 weeks in with a one lead pacemaker. A paper I brought home from Hosp said that at 3 weeks I can start lifting my left arm above my shoulder with controlled movements and I have been, but as I read about these things I see several diffent time frames for doing this. I've seen up to 3 months. Also the lifting limits are diff also..I've been told 5 lbs, heard 10 lbs. And again the time frames on this are diff...I'm confused and sure don't want my lead coming out or looseð±

My mother has had 3 attempts to have leads attached to her ICD in the past few years. First attempt the dr. clipped the vein and bleed to the point of the cavity around her heart was filled with blood - the second and third attempt both times the leads became unattached within hours and the last less than 3 weeks. All due to errors made on size and not being attached securely. Her doctor wants to remove all three wires and attach a bigger wire with much better secure stitches. He has not eve...

For about two weeks, I have been have a tingling from pacemaker to shoulder and up my neck. Now very short of breath, which started about the same time. Getting worse. My primary care person thought maybe congestive heart failure. Four days on lasix and dropped 6 pounds, but still getting worse on shortwindedness.
You know you're wired when...
