Hi All,
I'm 28, I've had my ICD now for a year and a half. Zero issues, don't even feel it's there, a pretty good experience so far.
Being younger I'm still very active. I grew up playing hockey my whole life, specifically as a goalie. I want to get back to playing again, but obviously I'm concerned with protecting my ICD. I do have a bulky chest protector, however equipment does tend to move. I'm wondering if anyone has ever worked to get a custom made...

I am having PM inplanted next week. After recovery, is it okay to do military presses with dumbells?
Also, do I need to inform doctor that I am moderate runner so that he can adjust PM settings?

I am posting this question out of concern for my son.
He has a congenital heart disease - Bradycardia with a heartblock.
He received his first pacemaker at age 6, in 2003. It was replaced in 2012 (age 14). The second pacemaker was also placed under his sternum (can't remember the term for that :-) ) because the cardiologist felt that he still has a lot of growing to do.
Recently, at age 19, he has taken up weigth training (I think it has to do with girls).
For the...

I'm going on a cruise soon (my first one) and would like to do this:
http://www.bossusvi.com/faq/
It's basically an underwater scooter with a fishbowl on my head. I only goes down about 8ft. That's not a problem, right? I can't find anything about it.
thanks!

AFter having the pacemaker installed, docs said I could resume normal activity after 6 weeks or so. Now that I have slowly gotten back to crossfit, my cardiologist siad it may not be a good idea. They say repetitive motion like rowing, push ups and any pulling/ pushing motion could create a scissoring effect to the wires and damage or break them. Is this possible? I asked very specific questions after the surgery and now concerned they have changed their story. i LOVE crossfit but wonder how...

Hi everyone!
I got a pacemaker implanted on July 30, 2016 and have had a heck of a time getting back to ANY activity. I'm a runner, so this has been really difficult for me. I have been looking into this issue and found an interesting article that talks about settings for pacemakers for athletes (specifically long distance runners), but I think it must apply to many others. Please check it out and I'd love to hear about your success in programming your&n...

Who, with an ICD/pacemaker, has done a skydive?!
I've been advised by my docs that it's an 'unidentifiable risk' as the sample's so small.
So, good people, have you ever thrown yourself out of a plane?!

I have had my pacemaker for 6 yrs now and I am 90% paced. I have no upper limit and have 60 for my lower limit. I have noticed an increase in problems with cramping and dizziness when I do exercise lasting more than an hour. I do my best to eat well and stay hydrated and have tried many different fuel sources but I still have these issues. Any ideas if the pacemaker may be the cause and/or how I can prevent this from happening.

My pacemaker was fitted a few months ago. I notice that when I now go on the treadmill my pulse rate shoots up very rapidly to over 120 whereas previously it took quite a few minutes before reaching this rate. Is this a normal effect of a pacemaker

I have prolonged QT, and a wacky heartbeat. I get a ton of PAC's and dropped beats which drive me crazy. My heart gets much worse if I get dehydrated, so I drink a TON. However, I've been drinking Gatorade (because it has the electrolytes my heart needs) and it just has too much sugar and dyes for my liking. Anyone know of anything else that could give me the same benefits but won't break the bank??

Hi everyone. My husband received a pacemaker this year and so far things are going smoothly.
Is he allowed to use the Garmin vivosmart HR watch? Will it not interfere with the pacemaker's functioning?

I am scheduled for September 16 for my insertion and I told the ep that I was active. He suggested the biotronic brand would be best for me.
i don't lift heavy anymore. I will be 60 the end of October. After researching the net, I got a lot of mixed reviews regarding upper body exercise
of course I will listen to my doctor. Can anyone who might be close to my age that works out help me understand how long will it be before I can get back on the eliptical and lift weights...

My Polar 4 does not work with my Meditronik pacemaker. It shows that the chest sensor has connected but just show zero beats. Anyone have this problem?
Any suggestions on HRM that work with PM's?

I completed the Edmonton 1/2 marathon this weekend. It was the same race I did for 5 years prior to my pacemaker. I was 11 minutes slower but that's ok I getting myself trained back up for a better run next race. I ran one in March and wasn't quite ready yet so I was way slower on that one. So I'm improving by about 8 minutes each race, which is huge! So don't worry for those who like to exercise it really does come back with time.
Sports HR monitor suggestion please?

I few weeks a go I posted that I was doing a lot of training as I'm about to take part in London to Brighton road cycle 54mi and at the end of big cycles I was getting heart burn, this went on to random palpatations and then yesterday epic fail, running on treadmill and fainted! Sporting a nice chin cut and bruises, turns out that my upper limit was too low and having heart block above the limit caused the epic fail! My lovely Betty (PM pet name) has now had a boost in super power limits...

Even before I had my ICD implanted, I loved fencing, and in recent months, I have gone back to it. A couple weeks ago, I felt my heart do a double take. It passed, and I didn't think much of it. Then, this afternoon, I went out for a run, and I felt my heart do it again. I've felt this before, and nothing serious has happened after it. Also, I've had my defibrilator for about a year and a half, but should I take a break, see my cardiologist, or am I just overreacting?

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
