hi all, had my second pacemaker fitted in 2002 had loads of infections. Was tested for allergys but I'm not allergic to any components in the pacemaker. So they fitted another pacemaker in 2013. Had loads of infections In this one just found out that I still have the same infection that I had in 2002. Now I need the pacemaker and all the leads removing. 16 years of infections got to be a world record in a pacemaker and I'm still alive. Sorry for my shout out. Keep you i...

I had my CRT-D implanted on Wed. They said to wait 2 days before taking a shower. Not only did I wait until Saturday afternoon for the first shower, I also put plastic over the incision area and taped it up well. Within 2 minutes of taking my shower I had what can only be described as an explosion occur. Popping sound, white light, electric charge going through my body. After calming down I called my doctor who said it happens and since I was not showing an...

Can anyone tell me what it feels like to have their lead torn off or in the wrong position?
I had a pace maker maker put in March 5 2018. I’ve experienced chest pain ever since. Been to the hospital twice and they compared the chest X-rays and the finding was the atrial lead wire shows a change in orientation and may no longer be properly positioned which could affect pacemaker function. I couldn’t figure out why people on this forum were so good aft...

I had surgery 3 days ago and since I got the pacemaker I have had a spike in my blood pressure, I am on medication for high blood pressure but the numbers have gotten very high, is this normal and will it adjust in time. I was under the impression that it would lower it. Has anyone else experienced this. I also have shoulder pain.

Hi all. I have a dual chamber Pm, Medtronic now for just over a yr and half. Recently discovered that my ventricle is pacing aswell. Also i am struggling daily with constant headaches. I wake up with one and it doesn't go away. It is not getting better either. Couldvit be my heart causing it...

I’m new to this club and am really glad I found it. I was implanted with a pace maker 5/3/18 so I’m just about 6 weeks out. My leads and heart got infected so I’m still on antibiotics. My issue is still whenever I climb the stairs my heart races and I feel dizzy. Before I wouldn’t make it to the top of the stairs before I’d get dizzy. Say step 10. Then it was 12 and then a couple of steps after I was up the stairs. Does this ever get better? I’m...

hey guys
I’m 20 years old and had a pacemaker implanted on 06/02/2018 and everything was perfect. About 4 weeks I started to get pain in my arm but I assumed I’d pulled something because the muscles weren’t used to being used anymore. Couple of days later my scar turned an angry red. Still didn’t think anything. Couple of days after that has some green liquid coming out of my incision site. Long story short I was in hospital for 11 days with antibiotics then sent...

Hi, I had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted just over two weeks ago, was in a bit of pain to begin with but felt much better after the first week, with the exception of being able to feel the pacemaker pacing. I went back to the pacing clinic and they said all was ok. This feeling worsened to the point where I was getting painful electric shocks - went back to the clinic yesterday, had an X-ray and one of the leads has moved so I’ve got to have another operation next wee...

I’m 36 years old. I was implanted 3 years ago after an illness caused my heart to enlarge. Until that time I had no permanent health issues. I was generally very healthy, if slightly overweight.
since my implantation, my ICD has delivered shocks on multiple occasions. I’ve never lost consciousness. I’ve never left my feet. I’ve never felt “bad” either immediately before or after. The only common denominator was activity. Once in an argument that had m...

I am new to the club, however I have had a pacemaker for 40 years. I am 100% pacemaker dependent and currently working on depleting device #6. I have a Boston Scientific dual chamber currently and yes I have had my share of all kinds of glitches over the years with each of them.
Recently, I was being cleared for another type of surgery and had to have a chest xray. It was noted that I have Pulmonary Venous Congestion which I now underst...

Hello,
My apologies if I’m posting in the wrong area, I’m new to this:)
Ive just turned 39 and had a pacemaker fitted 3 months ago. I’m just looking at my notes and it’s a DDD PPM implant if that makes sense?
Aside from the initial recovery period, I had it put under the muscle, everything has been fine until the last two weeks.
I’ve been feeling far more dizzy than normal, almost a drunk/hungover feeling . I don&rsq...

Hello
My daughter is 19 and was born with Complete Congenital Heart Block. She had her first pacemaker implanted in her abdomen when she was 3 years old. When she was 6 her pacemaker was moved to a transvenous system. Her pacemaker in the abdomen was removed with the leads left in. She began having pain in the abdominal pocket about 6 months ago. It sometimes is unbearable. Her Cardiologist referred her to a general surgeon who thought perhaps she had an inc...

Hi all,
I’m wondering if my pacemaker has shifted to an unusual place. I feel a stiff/lump on the side of my left armpit/chest. I just had some pulsing/beating feelings that were rapid and irregular which feel like they are coming from my armpit. Has anyone else had similar symptoms or PM placement? I’m not sure if I should call my doctor about this or not.

Does anyone know to what extent metal detectors can damage the pm? I travel a lot through airports and manage to get pat downs, but I’m concerned about detectors that are now being placed in stores and other public places. My pm recently set off a detector at a department store entrance. And, in NY Penn Station, there are now detector systems to identify whether someone is wearing an explosive suicide type vest. However, the press says thi...

I had this pacemaker installed about a month ago. Last night in my sleep I pulled my arm over my head it must have pulled on the pacemaker because it woke me up. When I check my pulse the device seem to be working as my pulse rate was 60 beats per minute which is what the low rate was set at. Could I have pulled a wire out? Also this is a dual chamber pacemaker if you did pull a wire loose will the pacemaker still operate?
You know you're wired when...
Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
