ICD flutter
My ICD was implanted in March 2011 and to date it has not had to help me out other than pacing. I usually have 2-3 incidents between interrogations but they are not long enough for the device to even make an adjustment much less give me a shock
However, today I felt a fluttering in my chest in the area of the ICD that lasted about 4-5 seconds It felt like a butterfly in my t-shirt pocket trying to get out I noticed others have had similar issues but it seems like it was when their...
Headache Tingling Nausea
It's been 6-weeks since my ICD implant. I asked for a follow-up appointment this week to discuss my wildly fluctuating HR 60-150
( I wear a Garmin 225 continuous HR monitoring via the wrist )
I get headaches on top of my head, tingling around the implant site and nausea. I'm also on 10mg of bystolic.
It's my understanding he set the voltage higher initially till the leads are firmly attached. The pacemaker portion is set at 60bpm.
Has anyone...

Left arm numness and stiffness
Hello Form,
Post 5 months of ICD implant, I had been living a very comortable life till the time (5 days ago), I sarted getting this numness and later hard muscle on my left arm. Feels like the blook circulation has stopped.
With this condition I went to my doctor who advised that the lead (single chamber ICD) that is landing in my heart is causing the stoppage in blood flow so he advised me to go by process and as first therapy, he increased the doze of one my medicine (...
Please help...I need advice
I have had my ICD since late December when I flatlined in the OR during an EP study. After it was implanted, I got shocked in January, June, and then last week I was shocked 5 times in 50 seconds. I had to be taken to the emergency room in an ambulance and stayed for a few days to recover.
How many times do people normally get shocked? I am so scared to do anything that might raise my heart rate and get paranoid anytime my heart skips a beat.
EP Visit
Well first visit with EP was fairly uneventful.
Talked about the device, and scheduled to have a Zoll Lifevest
will monitor and in early Oct get another Echo done.
If EF is still low, schedule at that point for an ICD.
I have had AFib before but would only show up when my BP was really high. Doc noted Afib at the visit. BP was relatively good at 159/89.
AFib before was when bp was in the xxx/112 range or higher.

Hi,
as I said in my previous post I had an ICD implanted, following tachycardia attack.
During three week that I spent in hospital ( due to complications and some hospital bacteria ) doctors told me next to nothing.
And of course, they didn't tell me anything about quality of life after icd implant. Before the op I was going mountaineering on a regular basis, and running 100 yards to catch a bus didn't present itself as a problem.
Now it feels like I have a power li...

Just got my ICD implanted 4 days ago
Hi everyone,
My name is erin and I'm 25 years old. I just got my ICD implanted a few days ago and am a but uneasy with this new addition to my life. Can anyone give me some experiences they had after getting it implanted? What were your emotions like? Did you feel anxious, uneasy, depressed? I've noticed that I have a lot of fear having this device so any advice on coping solutions would be wonderful.
Thank you in advance!
Alarm is going off on the hour.
Hi, Today my Mother's 4 month old Medtronic ICD is making an alarm sound on the hour. Called the Dr. and he said for us to come in tomorrow. She is quite upset, this is the second time this new ICD has set off an alarm. What do you guys think? Have you had this happen to you?
gonna happen this time
a couple of years ago I had a heart failure. EF was 28%, 5 months later had recovered fot 45%, so talk of an ICD at time quit.
About a month ago, had another incident with the HF. and EF has dropped below 35%. Now after exertion, (walking fast, walking upstairs etc) I get fatigued more quickly. I also notice if I am lifting or grabbing items. above my head that I get faint sometimes. and alot of times get vertigo.
Also after the exertion, will get chest pains during t...

I know that this topic has been addressed here several times, mostly by patients, who were offered a totally subcutaneous ICD instead of the conventional version and were looking for information. So, in my latest blog post I have reviewed some of the research published on the safety and efficacy of the S-ICD: http://bitly.com/1HtEx5E
If you have the S-ICD implanted, please share your experiences! I'm sure this would be of interest for many members.

ICS's and tattoos
I would really like to get a tattoo on my right upper arm. I've had a ICD in my left chest since February. Is it safe to get one? I'm sure don't want that sucker going off!

Hi,
I have a question about driving an electric car...
Since I had an icd implanted I've been told to steer clear from strong magnetic fields, i.e. not to do any welding, to be careful with metal detectors, mobiles and loudspeakers...
Does anybody have any experience with electric cars ?
As an advertising photographer I did some studio shots of an electric car and now should take it to some remote locations. Being an electric car it probably generates strong...
CRTD pacing question
Does the Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy device use pro-active or re-active pacing? IOW, in any given heart cycle, does the device always pace or does it detect and dynamically respond to arrhythmias such as what I have (LBBB)? Thanks.
Icd shock
I had an icd implant 2/17/2015. 2 wires. I was getting weekly mild to medium shocks once a week at the same time. 1:45 AM. Would set me right up in bed! The first time I thought it was normal, after the second time I called the doctor and saw the Medtronic tech. She did some computer stuff and managed to shock me again. I jumped and she jumped. She said the Icd was doing a self check, never had that reaction from someone before. The tech talked to my cardio, he said to turn that function off. I...

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
