Hi,
first I'd like to say that I'm really glad I found this forum.
Week ago I had an icd implanted, following a tachycardia. It was a messy affair, water in my lungs, pneumonia and a bacteria I picked up in hospital. Apparently they had to defibrillate me ten times.
Since I got home I read lots of posts on this site, but still have some questions...
In the Biotronik booklet it says it usually takes some 4 - 6 months before you're fully recovered and...
Looking for help or advice
It has been awhile since I have posted and quite a bit has happened. Long story short got diagnosed with IST about 3-4 yrs ago, I have had 8 ablation for the IST, junctional tachycardia and svt the came back after ablations. I have had also 2 pocket revisions due to pm's moving. I started out with just single lead pm, then biventricular and now since I have diaphragm still from the right ventricle lead my dr at mayo clinic (which is amazing) added a 3rd lead in the left ventricle so after its st...

Only a few times have a gotten the really big shocks from my ICD, but I get smaller corrective shocks a lot. They are very uncomfortable. Feels like somebody is hitting me in the ribs from the inside and I can't breath.
My situation is this.....
The smaller shocks are happening everyday on my way to work, at the same point in my drive. It's a small two-lane road. There are no underground scales or nearby power stations. I drive the same road home and it doesn't happen on my...

hi.my stepson who is 27 yo and a former collegiate volleyball player is subject to icd implantation asap (3rd week of april 2015)at the philippine heart center.doctors recommend biotronik(2-lead),because of its dependability and battery life-span, but the cost is too much for us. however, he said that there are organizations/companies that sponsor the device.
it would really be a big help if anyone can help us find/talk to a sponsor (any brand for that matter).
my stepson is getting re...
Need Help for My Dad
Dear all,
My dad is scheduled to get an ICD on May 1 2015. He had a massive heart attack two months ago and was diagnosed with heart failure.
He is anxious about the ICD and would like to meet someone with an ICD to discuss how life is w/ the ICD. He doesn't use the internet and insists on a personal meeting or at least a phone call. If anyone is in the Toronto or GTA area could you please msg me. I love my father dearly and want him to get the ICD but only on his term...

Walk in the Park - Done with my ICD implant
Hello Everyone!
I am glad to report back to this forum that I have got my new friend implanted on 2nd April, 2015. I am thankful to this forum in many ways and hence I owe a lot to this forum. I am grateful to all those great people who are spending their time to add value in life of others, specially when they do not know them. This forum had given me what I was looking for and on top of my shopping list was a 'courage' that could help me deal with my 'biggest fear of life' i.e. to...
severe chest pain
My eldest daughter had an ICD fitted 1 week ago, after loosing my youngest daughter to sudden adult death 5 weeks ago, and a history of heart problems in our family. My Eldest daughter is now suffering boust of severe chest pain in her heart, she is in hospital yet again tonight.
Im so worried and cant find any reason for this severe pain, bloods, ecg, and scan all appear normal.
Can anyone tell me if they have heard of this and any possible causes.
many thanks xx
CorVue
Am asking whether anyone with a sjm device uses CorVue. If so, how; how often; complications getting data.
Afib after getting a ICD
A year after getting my icd I have developed severe afib. I'm on Tikosyn and digoxin but still have occasional afib but not as severe. My heart has improved from the cardiomyopathy from 20-25ef to now 50-55 ef. They adjusted my pacemaker from 40-125 to 80-125 and I'm having way less afib. Could my ICD be causing the afib? I never had afib before the icd. I usually get it after I come home from work and set down and relax. I keep getting defibed because the afib makes my heart get up into the...

Just had an ICD 'installed' the first of February, 2015. My left arm was slightly swollen and was causing me discomfort as well as my left neck and shoulder. Not as bad now, but will this be a permanent feeling? {I think with the restraints, feeling the 'pain' twice when medicine wore off, I may have pulled a muscle but not sure.}
How does an ICD look?
I do not have one, but my doctor's want to put one in me.
This is my history:
I'm 54 years old.
I had "successful" Mitol Valve surgery in late September, 2014. I had no symptoms at all before the surgery. I ran 4 miles the day before the surgery. My heart was getting worse, so I allowed the surgery. At the time my Ejection Fraction was less than 45%, but a portion was going back the wrong way through the Mitrol Valve.
I still have no symptoms after surgery....

Is there any reason I can't go tanning? I've had my implant for over 3 years. I'm new to the group so I would invite any and all advice.

shocks
S-ICD and ICD users question. Did anyone have a shock treatment from S-ICD or ICD? Can anyone tell me if shocks are bearable? I guess Iâve read many horror stories about being shocked while awake or missfires, and itâs really scares me. So if you are standing while having a shock will you fall down? Can you get an injury, like break a bone? If someone drives and get shocked, will you most likely get into the accident? How bearable is the pain? People describe that it feels like a mull kicks...

Will be getting an ICD inserted soon
Hi,
3 months ago, I went into Cardiac Arrest and miraculously survived. A few days ago I had an echo done and was told that my Ejection Fraction was around 30%. I have been wearing a life vest (portable defibrillator) for the past 3 months in the event that another attack would occur, and have been ok since. I now have to rid of this portable defb and get an ICD inserted under my collarbone sometime soon.
I am just nervous about the whole thing and was wondering if anyone...
ICD replacement periods
Hi to members
Any experience with the longest period of replacement ?
My ICD device is fitted exactly four years ago, with no activation- without shock, works only like a pacemaker for about 1% of the day, during night (physician claims).
Device is Biotronik Lumax with St.Jude electrode.
thanks in advance...
Close to WiFi routers?
Hi friends
Any new informations about wifi router impact on ICD devices?
Or some independent statistics or similar (not statistic made and payed by some "magic antimagnetic shield producer" or etc.
Sorry for bad English---Thanks for answers.
Effects of viagra & ICDs
Hi, new to the club (really wasn't aware there was one). Had Merlin, my pet name for my ICD, installed the first of this year. At 66 years old, Viagra or Cialis is a real help for me.
I would like know if anyone has used either and received any side effects.
Thanks

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
