Weird...

I'm 10 days post PM implant. The first week after,it was kind of tough...I needed a week to recover from the trauma to the body. But I'm doing fine now...the pain is pretty much gone and I definitely feel more energy.

Anyway, the weird thing is how I'm finding mysel not wanting to we even touch it... Or much acknowledge it at all. I still haven't fully come to grips with the reality of this little machine residing in my body... and I'm kind of spooked by it a little bit. I've touch...

3rd year check up

I have just been through my 6 check-up (every 6 months).  I have a Verity ADx XL DR.5356 pacemaker with SN TENDRIL ST Leads and Isoflex 1948 SN BLW 18489.
My Dr. said that my brain - atria connection was ok, but that my atria to ventricle was only working 33%!!

Can anybody explain please...what does this mean?

Thank you all in advance

Rate Response ..another question

Hello
I had a PM fitted 10 weeks ago to treat Sick Sinus Syndrome. It appears to be working OK and kicks in at 50bpm which prevents the dizziness and fainting which I previously experienced.
......but, as a runner, I am finding that I become far more breathless after about one mile than I used to.

The Rate Response is switched off; in the words of the cardiac technician " You're a fit guy, you don't need it ! " but ( and I now realise that I don't understand this ) I was t...

New to a PM and ironing out the bugs

From reading through these forums I think I have a feeling where the answer to these questions may lie but it would be nice to get peoples feedback!

I had a pm fitted about 10 weeks ago for 3rd degree AV Block (total block) after never having any other symptoms except for collapsing and being bradycardic for 12 hours (maybe linked to radiotherapy 19 years ago). Its a Biotronik EVIA DR-T MRI dual lead unit. Initiall everything went fine and I never felt it doing anything at all. Been r...

EF question

Hi,
I'm new to this site and was hoping someone could help with some information on a question I have.
I have SCA about two years ago, after the event I had a ICD implanted. A few months after the implant my EF was about 20% so my doctors replaced my ICD with a CRT-D. After 4 months my EF was 40%-45%. My doctors were very happy and so was I. It's now been about a year since the CRT-D was implanted and a recent echo shows the EF declining a bit. Between the echo's at 4 months and the re...

What does a PM record?

Hi, Can a Pacemaker tell the differents between a drop below it's lowest setting & an AV Block event? I ask this because I want to ask the Cardio Tech about how much my PM has paced, and more important to me, for what reason it has paced. Thank you.

Does the Pacer have a 'sleep mode'?

Hi All,
I have had pacers since 1997. I am on my third.
It is 3.45am and as usual I was woken, I believe, by my pacer's minimum rate being set too high. I fall into bed absolutely dog tired, but 5 hours later I awake like a coiled spring. Sleeping in? Forget it! I have sick sinus syndrome. Before the pacer my resting pulse rate was about 50 (family thing) but my pacer is set at 60 (it was at 70, and it drove me crazy - I nearly had a punch-up with my then specialist (I changed him) to...

Had PM settings changed.....

Hi again.
Thank you for your replies to my recent post about my return to work. I realise now I was definately not well enough to try & return to my full hours & am glad the Occupational Health Dr has stepped in & reduced my days/hours for a month & then review. My arrythmia nurse was very relieved when I told him, he was worried about me overdoing things & becoming ill again. He thinks I won't be fit enough to do my full hours until New Year!

I went to the PM clinic today (had...

Alternative Checkup Method for SJM PM221

Folks, I cannot find any reference to my concern, but apologies if it is already covered; maybe someone will refer me. I had a 2004 SJM Pacemaker replaced last week (Oct 21) with the new St Jude Med PM2210, and I understand the new bedside unit will automatically retrieve the PM data and transmit it automatically. However, that leads me to ask if anyone knows all the methods available for transmitting? 1. I have no landline home telephone. 2. I do have a cellphone (StraightTalk) without Android...

PVC runs

I am confused about the significance of PVC runs on pacemakers, and if separate, in reality. From what I read a PVC run with a hr of over 100 is considered V-tach, and that has always seemed serious to me.

My pacemaker reports always show numerous PVC runs -- 175 in a 3 month period, for example. Doesn't seem to worry the cardio types.

Then, I am in pulmonary rehab, they noted a strange heartbeat and hooked me up to a monitor and caught a PVC run of 10. They suspended...

Interrogation

I was due for my check up in August....but I had a baby instead. Anyone else miss there appointment by this much? Planning on making my appointment tomorrow but will probably be another month before I get one.

I don't pace much so I am thinking the battery will be fine. If I hit the floor I guess I will know I was wrong.

Update on me....

Hi all
It's just over 5 weeks since my PM. I had my first check-up yesterday. On looking at my PM print-outs & the results on their computer, they found I have an accelerated junctional rhythm, running around 70bpm, so they increased my resting HR from 60 to 75 to try & stop it. They could see on the computer that at 70 it was still there, but at 75 it went. So here's hoping the adjustment will solve the problem. My EP did say before the PM that I might have this problem, & he was right. I...

I can feel self test

It occurs every 21 hours on my pacemaker. My heart pounds a little. I always thought there was something wrong. The boston scientific person said it is a self test. I am glad to know this. Next visit they will set a longer length between tests. It doesn't bother me now that I know what is going on. It is kinda cool that I can look at the time on my watch and know when the next test is. My last self test was at 6:30 p.m. and my next test is at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

New tech and doc

Moved from Dallas to Baytown, Tx and went for my first pacemaker check with a new Tech. Reading rather disturbed me. AP counts greater than 99%, VP counts 14%, AV conduction counts 86%. Battery life 5-7 years. Tech said all was fine, but pushed me about getting quarterly phone checks, instead of the now once per year in the office checks. Anyway new cardologist had not seen me as of yet, and I only had a brief conversation in the hallway with him.

change to PM setting

i am just over 2 months post PM implant. Yesterday I had a check-up. All was fine but the doctor changed my higher setting from 120 to 135. He stated that I could have more energy this way when I work out. My lower setting is 65. However, I have been feeling tired and weird since my visit yesterday... fast rate, tired, a little dizzy when i stand, shortness of breath when i walk, etc. Has this happened to anyone directly after a change to their pacer? Will it go away? I will go back to...

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
