getting out of bed
I too sleep on left side of bed and have pm on left. Even with left arm folded over chest, I simply reach over putting right hand on mattress and push with right hand . In doing this my feet just naturally drop to floor and I stand up. Have done this since home from hospital after pm insertion Seems no strain and I am over 75. Let your body mechanics for you. Trish
ICD and security systems
Hello, I was needed to go several times thru the security at the government buildings. And every time I told them that I have an ICD. And everytime the security personnel still used their stick (sorry donât know what would be a correct word) to check my body for metals. I told them that they shouldnât do it, but one guy said that they do it all the time. Does anyone know if itâs ok for security people to use the security stick on someone with ICD?

Bowflex treadclimbers
Hello everyone:
I haven't posted in a long, long time, but I read this site frequently. And now I have a question. I know there are no stupid questions on this site, and I'm hoping I'm not asking the first one:)
I have an ICD, and I was looking at purchasing a Bowflex Treadclimber. I noticed that there is a heart rate monitor built into the handle bars. But I was remembering some time ago reading that we PM and ICD users should not use those wristwatch heart monitors or chest heart...

My mom is 89 years old and 1 year ago had a brain bleed. She has since recovered 100%, which was amazing. 3 months ago she had an over night stay in the hospital because of bladder prolapse. Her pacemaker/defibrillator battery is depleting and it needs to be replaced, however, from what they can estimate - it's only kicking in for her 2% of the time. So, my questions is - could it just be left in the way it is? Why should she be put thru a 2 hour surgery under sedation, if, in reality, she...

Hi I'm 29 Years old male from India, have 1.8 year old first ICD. I undergone RFA (Ablation), and thereafter as per my health condition i don't need to carry ICD, it can be explainable. In India Doctor are not experienced in lead extraction and i can't travel other country due to financial reasons.
Currently my doctor suggested me that we can only remove ICD and keep the leads as it is as there is no harm.
Is this correct approach to keep the leads for my rest of life, if...

What are they hiding
Hi
Does anyone have an opinion why doctors don't want to give patients a copy of an interrogation? I live in New York (nassau county) and having a difficult time getting a copy of my interrogation. I'm told it is fine and why do I want a copy. I always feel I am not getting the full explanation. Aren't they like blood test results? Would your doctor tell you they are fine and not give you your numbers for cholesterol or A1c? Any suggestions on how to get all the information from these inte...

Chest pain after ICD
Hi guys,
My mom received an ICD unit about 8 days ago. About 3 days ago she started having chest pains and at time these pains get very severe. The pain starts from the location of the ICD unit but then travel towards the heart. My mom said the the pain is almost like a pinch.
Her pain was unbearable yesterday, so we took her to the ER. They did blood work, x-ray and scan. After several hours of waiting for the cardiologist, he came in for 10 seconds and said everything was norma...
arm pain
My husband has had an icd for nearly 2 years. He has recently developed pain in his left arm which he thinks is muscle pain. This is worse when he bends his arm so he tries to keep it straight. Anyone know if this could be related to the icd?

ICD expiry?
Hi,
My brother has had an ICD in 2006. In 2011 the Cardiologist he's seeing said that the ICD capacity is over and that it has to be replaced by a new one. He got a new ICD in 2011. He has had many shocks, sometimes about 10 a day. Now the Cardiologist again says the ICD is nearing it's capacity. Has anyone else had ICD's replaced so often? Is there any other treatment other than ICD for Brugada Syndrome?
