tingling feeling over site area

Hi I have a St Jude's ICD. It has been good for first 21/2-3yrs. They had to turn off 1 lead do to noise sensitivity. Now I am getting tingling sensation over site area. Doctor says it is just nerves over the device.

S-ICD

Hi all,

Has anyone got any first hand knowledge about the S-ICD's? Have heard some pros and cons so hoping to get some feedback prior to my implantation (still trying to decide on the type to go with).

Thanks,
Marc

Any new thoughts on devices?

Hi All,

I'm about to go in for an ICD and my doc has said that I can chose the device I'd like. Having done a lot of reading, I'm reluctant to go with St. Jude's due to the poor response to their recall. I'm deciding between Medtronic and Boston Sc, but I can't tell if Boston Sc is just good marketing or do they really have a better device (battery life, smaller etc). There are a lot of posts on this forum board, but they are mainly from 2012, so curious if there is some updated th...

Phrenic nerve stim with new CRT-P

Hi all!

It has been awhile for me since I have posted. Back in the beginning of the year I had to have a couple pocket revisions for my PM due to it moving in my arm pit and then wires came uncoiled. After that was done I started having lots of palpatations/diaphragm pacing coming from my RV lead. After many setting adjustments that didn't work I was sent to the Mayo Clinic.

Let me just say that the drs there are amazing and I wish I would have went there long time ago. I w...

How painful is implant procedure?

Hi Fellows,

I will go through an ICD implant procedure in due course and most probably will have St. Jude's single chamber ICD (I think model is fortify and it lasts more then 10 years. Is this a wise choice? Is there anything coming new in short course that is drastically better in life and in avoiding unnecessary shock?)

My recent echo was 32% so still am evaluating the decision for transplant and most probably my doctor and I will conclude to go for the transplant....

Fast heartbeat

Has anyone experienced a shock from the ICD? What happens when you are brought back into the right rhythm? The reason I ask is because I have mechanical heart valves (sounds like a ticking clock in a quiet room), and I can hear my HB rapidly which freaks me out so I sit down and wait for the ICD to do its job, which it does (thankfully). The only downfall is that I let out a "cry of pain" sound, even though it doesn't hurt. I think it's because I am caught off guard from the shock that it makes...

Merlin@home monitor

Does anyone know what it means when the Merlin@Home monitor beeps once and an orange light flashes across it for a couple of seconds. I have a St. Jude Medical 3 leads difibrillator since April 3rd, 2013 and this never happened before. It happened last night and now I am worried as I just had a check up at the end of June and my heart went from 19% capability to 56% since the difibrillator implant.

ICD and seat belt-Yes or No?

Hi,my name is Predrag (Brugada syndrome) reason for installing ICD.
At first ,sorry if my English is a little bit rusty...In my country is possible to avoid to wear--use seat belt if you have an ICD patient card. But because here traffic is so awful ,i am in big dilemma what to do? I am frightened about wire damage (Europian driver side in car). Any personal experiences in car collisions???

And small reminder for moderator or similar: in list of countries there is no "Serbia" wh...

Great start but a set back

Hi gang,
Had my ICD implanted 8/8/14 felt great until last Saturday, Saturday could not breath worth a darn, spent Saturday & Sunday laying around the house.

Monday back to normal feeling great ever since, shortness of breath was one of my biggest problems prior to having my ICD.

Any body out there ever had the same experience? if so did you ever find out why this happened.

Thanks,
Limey 42

Does anyone knows if there is a different on how ICD shocks feel in 16 jolts vs. 60 jolts? If jolt is higher than it more painful? If you stand, will it knock you out of your feet?

Does anyone heard anything about wearable ICD by ZOLL? You don't have to do a surgery and it works like an emergency. But this will not pace you or anything like that. Does anyone knows anyone who has it?

Hello, I just was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and possible future VF. Doctor told me that I need an ICD. He also told me that I have two choices: traditional ICD and new S-ICD. It seems that both have cons and pros. The new S-ICD has 80 jolts and it can't be adjust to lower jolts, like traditional ICDs. But doctor said that if I will be hit with 30 or 80 jolts the painful experience will be the same. Does anyone knows if it is true? 30 vs 80 is a big difference.
Does anyone has S-ICD dev...

First Shock

I have a biventricular device. I had my first shock. Actually this is my second shock. My first came with a Boston Scientific device. My Second was with Medtronics Device. The shocks usally come when I am in bed. This shock woke me out of a sound sleep. It felt like a death angel reached inside my body and pulled my soul out and said mid way...sorry, wrong person! That is a scary feeling. I do have a side effect of the shocks... I am scared to sleep due to the fact the shocks come when...
