ICD and Hills & Running!

Hi everyone, so I am now running about 4-5 miles 4-5 days a week, cannot believe it really. I am also faster than when I first hit the ground running post ICD surgery. I have been avoiding any substantial hills while running, however I would love to run my old running route which begins while a long upward slope of about a mile. Any suggestions on running hills? I do wear a HRM when I run. Thanks for chiming in!

I recently had my yearly pacemaker checked and was told to monitor my heart rate.
I bought a Smart Health walking heart rate monitor, step counter and watch. It is still in the box and ready to return . I have to wet the wrist while using it.
Is this safe.? It seems like it's similar to my phone checks when I use the wrist bands.
Has any one used this brand?

Donate Pacemaker ICD

I had a single lead pacemaker/ICD implanted on February 18, 2014. After recent problems I had the single lead pacemaker/ICD removed and a dual lead pacemaker/ICD implanted.

After the procedure the nurse handed me to single lead pacemaker/ICD to keep. I was told that the pacemaker/ICD can not be reused in the USA even though it still has 14 years of battery life left.

I would like to donate the single lead pacemaker/ICD.

Does anyone have any ideas????

How high can you go?

My upper limit was raised to 165 a few months ago. Last week after a workout, my HR monitor read 258 for the high number. That beats my past high number of 227 not long ago....(not that I am trying to beat it).

I didn't do any aerobics that day at the gym last week, only weight machines. It has been over 200 a few times in the past month.

My Polar HR monitor has really been right on target. During an intensive exercise class a few months ago, my HR monitor registe...

Diaphragm Pacing?

I am curious at to anyone else has experienced this..I know about that it does happen and I have did lots of research on here and on the web but I haven't found anything that is like my situation and either have my drs so I thought I would try here.

I am both atrial and ventricular paced and have been for awhile. This year I had 3 pocket revisions due to either pm or lead moving. After the revisions I started having the horrible beating/kicking in the bottom of my chest/diaphragm area...

Wrong device installed

Had a new pacemaker implanted in Nov 2013... It has three wires, the new third lead wire was to "cure" the congestive heart failure--left side of heart. Supposedly CHF was the result of 32yrs (7 dual lead on demand pacemakers) was the right side of heart being paced.

Well, I should of had an ICD with pacing capabilities implanted instead because I have been having tachycardia, which has been going on for yrs with rapid heart beats so fast I couldn't talk. ICD is also needed for the C...

Just turned 80 with 2 heart attacks, 2 double bypasses 1983 and 2007. Am scheduled for a 3rd pacemaker (6/04, 9/09) since my EF has gone from .38 to .27. Drs are recommending the more complex ICD versus a simpler pacemaker and additional lead that would stimulate both sides of heart to get bi-ventricular pacing. The 6/04 installation was non trivial and I'm not anxious for complications coming from a more complex operation.

Does anyone know what likelihood of the defibrillator being...

Should I get an ICD?

I have known about my heart condition (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) since I was born. I was told about two years ago that getting an ICD would be good for me to get. I decided then I didn't want to get it because of the life changes and fear of it miss firing. I was never told prior to that, that I would need one. I was told this by a new doctor. I changed doctors because of my age. I had my yearly doctor appointment and he informed me that my heart muscle had gotten thicker and is strongly sugg...

Lisa,
read all your comments on M-Link. How long of a test period do they give you? Can you return it if you don't like it?
Thanks for all your information! Anyone else using M-Link?

Daughter is getting an icd on the 19th

Hi all. My daughter will be receiving an icd next week and I have some questions. First she has had increasing v tach for the last five months. She has congenital heart disease and has had four open heart surgeries so I'm assuming this is from scar tissue? Either way she has to have it. How difficult is the procedure and the recovery. She's seventeen so close to be an adult but she is a very small girl. Any advice or input ?

Still have bradycardia after pace maker

So my pulse rate is in the low 40's and it worries me! I thought that my pulse rate would be more normal I just moved and do not have a new cardiologist yet. it just seems to me that a pulse rate of 44 is low for someone with a pace maker?

Anyone have a similar situation??

ICD Settings & Rate Response?

Hi, so I was implanted with an ICD in April. I am also on beta blockers. I am athletic and run. I suffered from a SVT while running prior to that and a fainting episode. I have scar on my ventricles and with every test imagineable, it remains undiagnosed. So I am back at running, with my trusty heart rate monitor. Not as much as before, and much slower, but happy and feeling good. My rate response for my ICD is now off. I have a little residual fatigue and my doc suggests we turn the rat...

Mammogram with ICD

Hi. Today I had a mammogram. It's been 3 months since I got the ICD. I was very nervous about any pain I might feel if the machine hit or squeezed the ICD. Besides the usual awkwardness of the situation, it went well. There was no contact with the device or the scar. I wanted to share my experience with the hope that I can help someone not waste so much time as I did worrying. I hope it helps.

Thank You

Hi everyone. I found this site back in April, right before I had an ICD implanted because of congestive heart failure. I was so afraid and started searching for information. That is how I found this site. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. Even though this is my first post, I come to this site daily. I have learned so much and so many of my fears, concerns, and symptoms have been discussed here that I have been able to accept my situation and move forward. Once again, Thank you so much....
