I have a single lead pacemaker that works then needed. AV block notice then I had a spinal cord injury in 1980. First one implanted 1980. 2nd one 1991, 3rd 2001. So two years ago I had the pm interrogated (I think thats the word) and the saint jude rep said it was like new. the doctor walks in later and said it needs to be changed soon. i said no. i believe the battery level was 2.8. So I went last Nov. and the reading was the same. The cardiologist said nothing about replacing. He even told me...

I was wrestling and the person accidently pulled on the area where my pacemaker is on the left side. Is it disconnected now? I have had this implant now for four months. I was trying to move the persons hand. What do you suppose could happen if you pull on the area to hard where the bulky pacemaker is. I can feel the pacemaker, because it is bulky. Do I have to go back have the procedure done again?

I'm just waiting on a ride to go to the ER because I feel like my pacemaker is starting to fail. I've had my pacemaker since August 12, 2004, 9 years. My last check-up was in August and I wasn't scheduled to come in until next year in March I believe. I've noticed a slight change as I can feel my natural heart beat ( which is incredibly slow ) more often at night time now, and it takes longer for my pacemaker to respond than normal. I developed panic disorder almost immediately after I even got...

when i first had my pacemaker implanted i first had a av node oblation. this makes you pacemaker dependent ,because this is the natural pacemaker of the heart. so when my battery becomes low i start to loss perphial vision ,become dizzy off and on such terrible symptoms , maks even hard to work . and they wont change the battery till its so low that i feel so debilitated. my first pacemaker was put in in 2008 second one 20010 now i have 3 years left , but i know it will be less.
Anyone?

I had mitral valve surgery four months ago and a Boston Scientific model K-173 pacemaker installed three days later. I am continually concerned about the two leads pulling out if I reach or stretch for something with my left arm.
Has anyone experienced leads pulling out?

I am scheduled for replacement of my epicardial pacemaker in 3 weeks, the device in implanted in my abdomen.
However, last night I felt a lot of discomfort similar to when they put the magnet on the site at an interrogation, then my HR went down to 65 and stayed there since. Gosh I feel terrible and still getting chest discomfort too.
Anyone had similar symptoms at this point?
I am waiting for my EP to call back.

I'm new to the club and glad I found it. Lots of good info here.
Wondering how to find the right Dr to replace leads.
My second device was implanted 2/2011. last check up revealed that the leads are too deep in the muscle and are draining the battery life quickly. 60% used in 16 months. funny thing is, my Dr doesn't do math like I do. After he told me I still had 40% battery life left, he said, see you in a year. I said, hey Doc, don't you think we should check this out a little soone...

I'm 32 years old and got my first AICD/pacemaker when I was 24. I had the battery replaced last year. I got the device placed because of Long QT syndrome. Up until a week ago, I have not had any problems with my device. I have not had any Long QT episodes where the pacemaker had to kick in or the AICD go off. Basically, this thing has just been taking up space without having to do any work. Last week I went in for a routine device clinic check-up. I was told that the wire was cracking and would...

Hello everyone!
My son is 8 years old and was implanted with an epicardial pacemaker when he was 11 months old, due to bradycardia problems. These events reveled to be benign and he stopped using his pacemaker a couple of years ago.
In his last appointment we realized that there were some problems of communication between the battery and the heart, probably due to a lead break (although we could not physically see it in the x-ray!). It was no problem in his case, since he doesnt use...

I recently had a new pacemaker implanted. When I lie down I get a thumping effect in my stomach for several minutes.
This did not happen with the pacemaker which was
replaced. Is this common? Can there be something wrong with the new pacemaker?

It's been awhile since I've been on here. I just want to share to all my pacemaker friends, if you all haven't heard about an article that was brought to my attention from my husband and the news. The article is about how hackers can turn off and rewire pacemakers from just 30 feet away. When I heard about this,...

Hi everyone, i had my share of bad luck these past few weeks... After about 9 years my pm's battery needed to be replaced.
While in the OR they noticed that one of the electrodes was fractured and need to be replaced. They replaced the battery and discharged me, because they needed authority from the medical aid before the lead could be replaced.
Two days later the authority came through, and i was admitted and the lead was replaced. Now with my new Medtronic pm and lead...

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with having originally a Medtronic defib and leads and then changing out the lead generator to St. Jude? Any feedback would be welcome.
