Tapping my Medronic?

So I am having trouble getting enough rate response with my Medtronic PM while cycling. I have read on posts on here about "tapping" on the unit to get the motion sensor to raise heart rate. I had thought that seemed like a very strange way to get such a high tec unit to function beter, but when I met with the Medtronic rep she said the unit "was not perfect" for cycling on it's own and tapping on it was a perfectly fine way to up my heart rate.
So my quest...

Hey everyone
My question is around stamina and physical exertion I was in relatively good shape prior to my pacemaker implant last year. I am currently active with walking and leisurely bike riding but when I try to exert my self I am so quickly out of breath and my muscles ache and feel like they are starved for oxygen. I want to believe I am just out of shape but something tells me it more than that. Has anyone else experienced this??I believe my heart block was triggered by ex...

Hi everyone, I hope you all are in good spirits. I am a 19-year-old with 7 month old PM. Pre PM life I ran moderate distance races, ½ triathlons, played soccer year round, and competed in bodybuilding. I took roughly 4-6 months off working out regularly due to illness and my PM surgery. As I go back into my exercise routine I find my endurance to be at is ABSOLUTE WORST. Just curious if anybody else has had this related issue or it’s just me being out of shape haha. Let me...

Thank you

After a few issues with upper limits since pacemaker install late March this year, l was finally on the improve. I had to get my cardiologist to up my limit because the 110 they had me set on was ridiculously low for pretty fit 52YO and was going into 2:1 block when I exercised. Now set for 170 and has been good while walking getting up to 140 at times. Now today I got back to my horseriding began to experience pain in the centre of my chest and in back of my right s...

Hello!
I've had a pacemaker for years, and I've been very physically active throughou my life (pre-professional dancer). In the past month or so I've taken up the C25K running challenge, cause my cardio has never been good, and its been a challenge, However recently after my run I get bad chest pain over the pacemaker site, and I'm just wondering if ny one else has experienced this?
I've had bad pain before, but that was after excessive dancing and arm wo...

Hello again, having an issue with my pacer and curious if it's a common thing. My pm is currently set on using only minute ventilation to sense activity and raise my rate accordingly. This has worked reasonably well during my running. My problem is this, when I stop long enough during a run for either the bathroom, traffic, or general rest and my rate falls enough (say below 100) it's all but impossible to get it to increase to where it was before...

I am a newbie here, I had a St Jude Pm motion responsive , placed 11/2016 after a few adjustments, started feeling better. After last adjustment I went riding again, which I have been doing for years and after the 6 week recovery.
Any way while riding I felt like my rate was going up but was staying in the 80's. I ride racking horses, so started racking my horse which was wonderful and my heart rate went to the max of my setting 129. Now my dr is saying I sho...

If you are considering getting a pacemaker I encourage you to work with your surgeon to ensure that you'll still be able to carry a pack without having the strap rub on your pacer site.
In the month prior to getting my pacemaker I heard warnings about the potential for rubbing and/or pressure due to pack straps over the pacemaker site. Because I didn't want to sacrifice my mountain time I asked my surgeon to place the pacer so it wouldn't be right under a pack...

Have had my pacemaker 16 months. Have had no problems. The surgeon installed it beautifully. My osteoporosis is declining via my latest bone scan. Have walked 2 miles a day with 2lb wrists weights for many years. My diet is good. I am a 74 yr old female of 124 lbs. and active.
Decided to start working in gym to help with ostioporosis. Have been working out about 2 wks now. I've noticed that pacemaker is slightly bulging/lifting outward. Cosmetically I do not car...

I was fitted with a Medtronic Dual Lead Ensura PM last week. As a keen endurance runner I am keen to get back running again. I am a bit worried about this from the unknown side regarding rate response, maximum settings etc. Is there any guidance out there regarding how this works?
I run a lot of different distances from Ultra endruance event, to marathons, to 5k and 10k's. Will the technicians be able to set the rate response etc to a rate that will allow me to do all of these still...

Howdy. I've had a PM for 5 weeks and I have been advised to get a Medical ID bracelet. I wear a Fitbit and wondered if any companies designed tags that just attached to the Fitbit band.
Does anyone have a recommendations for a sporty Medical ID for a male?
Any with sports logos? :)
Thanks.

I have noticed recently that I am getting short of breath when walking. The feeding is similar to how I felt before I had my pacemaker implant. I noticed on a reasonably strenuous walk up a hill today that my pulse rate was not going above 90bpm and when I use a cross trainer I have difficulty in keeping above 100. I'm a 72 year old male. My implant was made 5 years ago.
Comments appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I am writing on behalf of my husband. He is 63 years old and an avid Mt. Biker & hiker. He needs a pacemaker and we can't get good answers to our questions. We are thinking that he should get a motion + ventilation sensing monitor. My question is this; while descending on a rocky trail on the bike, there would be lots of motion due to the jarring of the bike over rocks. Wouldn't the device keep the heart rate higher due to all the motion? When descending, your heart rate...

Hi everyone,
I'm new here.
I'm hoping to find someone like me because I'm chasing my tail trying to get diagnosed.
45 yo female, 5'6", currently 212 lbs (thanks to weight gain from whatever is going on)
Have always had low HR (50s) even when heaviest (270+)
Started Crossfit almost three years ago. Lost a ton of weight, toned up, got strong, felt fantastic.
Started with severe fatigue almost a year ago (June/July 2016). Ended...

Recently in the PM club there has been a spate of posts from distance runners , people who are keen marathon and half-marathon runners. I used to be one myself . I ran marathons in London, Paris, Istanbul, Athens, Vienna and Shanghai just to name a few and ran stacks of half-marathons in between .. a little bit obsessive you might think !!!
But if at most only around 1% of the population are regular runners why do we have so many runner - contributors to the PM cl...
