reaction to my new ICD?
I am still having sore mouth issues, have even stopped my Metoprolol now (past 24 hours). When I get up in the morning my mouth isn't too bad, but as the day goes by the redder my mouth becomes and the more painful. I thought maybe I was much better this AM. but I just looked and my mouth and gums are growing very red again. Has anyone heard of a person getting a reaction from their Device in and of itself? I do not have a fever nor is the area around my ICD inflamed. PS. by the way, went to m...
New and a bit worried
Hi, have an CRT-D implanted close to 6 weeks ago. I am on 25 mg metoprolol er and 25 mg Losartan. I am having wheezing and coughing and a rash around my ankles and legs. The cardiologist says it is my asthma and the ENT says its the heart meds. At present there is lots of pollen out but before the defibulator and Losartan meds l could control with asthma meds. Has anyone else had side effects from these meds. Before the defibulator l was on Carvedilol 3.125 twice a day. I see the Cardiolog...

To implant ICD under skin or in pectoral muscle?
I have 3 young kids (15,12,7) and I've been recommended to get an ICD. I hug my kids a lot and tightly, I backpack (girl scout leader) and i"m small boned and thin on top. Should I consider asking my EP to implant the ICD in my pectoral muscle? I'm concerned it will stick out and get bumped a lot during this stage of my life. Does anyone have an opinion either way? I would love to get any advice I can on this.
Thank you!
Karen
SETTINGS
I received my second shock from ICD this week and they talked about changing the settings.Had 1 VT 187bpm treated with x3 bursts of ATP,x3 RAMP.All ATP failed so they want to increase aggressiveness of ATP regime as failed on VT.Struggling to understand what all this means.EP explained that if they changed setting would probably get more shocks but as I get absolutely no warning I am to be shocked (luckily I have been laying down resting when had shock),if I was standing I could injure myself as...
AV node ablation for afib
This is urgent. Please help. My ep doctor says I need to have an AV node ablation done asap. It's schedule for April 11, 2014...Has anyone had this procedure done? What's the long term effect? I am a 65yo female with approx. 4 yr history CHF and Afib. I have had 3 cardioversions each lasted only 1 yr. Several antiarrhythmic drugs have failed to keep me in normal sinus rythum. I now have an AICD implanted because of non sustained vt. . I only have wires in both ventricles. So far I have only go...
No complications with ICD?
I am an active 47 year mom of 3 young kids and I've been recommended to get an ICD. I have started to look at support groups like this one for information regarding what it's like to have and ICD. It's been scary in that most postings seem to convey all the horrible, uncomfortable aspects of having an ICD. Things such as unnecessary shocks, shock storms, burning pain at implantation sight. Is there anyone out there who is active and doesn't even know they have an ICD anymore? I'm so worried...

some pain -
Hello: I had a pacemaker/defibrillator implant in September. Lately I've had some pain in the area. Hard to describe - anyone else have pain 6 months after surgery? Also - I've been having some mood swings. I have a cardiologist appointment next week, so I guess I'll ask him, but just curious what others have experienced. Thanks -
ICD moves while sleeping
Hello
I had an ICD placed 12-31-2014, When I sleep on my right hand side I feel my device move in place as I move upward, as anyone had this happen before? It's the second time it happened. Is it normal or should I call my doctor? I don't feel pain or get any shocks.

CRT/ICD ?
I am new here with a diagnosis of Dilated Cardiomyopathy , LBBB and LV enlargement with an EF of 20. The doctors believe it was Viral in its origin. I am on multiple medications: I would love to hear back from anyone that has been in my shoes previously. I am 50 year old male.
I believe medications will help but the doctor says most likely I will need some ICD- my research tells me a CRT/ICD is tge way to go if thr EF doesn't get passed 35.
Anyone has had one implanted I would love...

I received an ICD on 2/28/08, my device is a Sorin Dual (ICD and Pacemaker . I've received 7 kicks or shocks since it's implantation; all on point, or each time I would have gone into Cardiac arrest or some other trauma, that may have caused death. false shocks are rare I was told, each time you are shocked mark your calender with a heart..your life was saved. there are no warnings, which is why most of us are considered disabled. Do not fear, relax, getting upset only causes anxiety, laugh..a l...
Looking for answers
Hi all!
I just have a few questions that are a little abnormal and I can't find much online. After having 7 ablations to sinus and av node I'm still having problems with the sinus node. I recently was sent to a cardiovascular surgeon for a possible maze procedure and he talked about removing the sinus node completely. He talked a little about the surgery but not a lot other than it hasn't been done in years but is possible and said that it would be open heart. The problem is when I am...

false shock? how do they really know?
My Medtronic device delivered a shock recently. Ambulance came, went to ER, following up with dr, but so far no one has told me why it delivered the shock. How do they determine whether it was a false shock or not? I am very anxious about this.

Pulsing
Hi all
When lying down i can feel every pulse of the unit.
It is as if the lead touches my stomach. The only way to get to sleep is on my left side. Is this normal and has anyone else experienced the same?

I just had a bad experience. Felt like I was beening shocked everytime my heart beat... Accross my chest, stomach and neck area... Could this be possible? Dr said the readings show the de-fib did not go off. Hell I know a shock when I feel it... It lasted for 1 1/2 to 2 hours... Before ending up back in the ER...
