Do any of you know if IT equipment like servers .routers, switches will affect a pacemaker. Giong to eventually start a career in the IT field. Was wondering if any have experience in this field. Not sure if a data center that has lots of equipment and also maybe ac cooling will have an effect or not to worry. I use computers and smart phone devices no problems.

Update.....
Thank you for your comment.
My electrocardiologist explained to me yesterday what happens when I come within an erea of a stronger EMF such as in speakers or large subwoofers which have many large magnets. I was told not just speakers/subwoofers but I may feel it when I am on my riding lawnmower or using my brush-cutter.... I guess it switches my pacemaker to a 100% full time control of pacing my heart and that could be anywhere between 85 beats to 140 beat...

Hi,
I had my PM surgery 4 years ago and things are fine overall. Recently I developed pain in my fore arm and wrist area and tried different options. Now I am trying Accupunture. My doctor wants to use micro currents to stimuate the needles and says its most effective and he knows that I have a PM implanted. I asked my Cardiologist and he says they can interfere with PM and advises against any electrical stimulation. When I told my Accupuncturist about this he said he treated many patient...

I'd like to buy my father a heated scarf and/or vest, is it ok or is it intefering with normal operation?
Is there another way to heat up the air prior to inhaling? He also has lung problems, cold air is his nemesis #1.

I know through the years I've read posts about dolphins not doing well with ICDs, but since I am now 10 years older than when I first joined the group, I've forgotten what the info was. I am traveling to Dominican Republic soon and wanted to have the opportunity of swimming with dolphins, but heard they are "offended" by pacemakers and ICDs; that it interferes with their high-pitched clicking. Anyone have this experience?
Thanks from a very grat...

Have pacemaker 7 yrs, AV node ablation 5 yrs. Bought smart tv. Few days later had AF but mainly ecoptic, this happened every few days then next giddy, loss balance. Went to Doc who sent to hospital for tests. No information provided to me nor report to Doc. Then I see that this device (smart tv) should not be used with pacemaker. Of course by this I was blaming wireless/wifi and possibly incorrect installation. Returned TV. I keep my wireless switched off. I installed previous TV which is fre...

I have had my dual lead pacemaker for two and a half years, for sick sinus syndrome and bradychardia. I have not had any real problems, apart from soreness at site when I became very hot during the summer. However, for the past three weks or so, I have been having severe palpitations whenever I use my laptop; it is the same one I have had for several years, so I have no idea why. If anybody has any thoughts on this, I'd be grateful!

I recently received an ICD and now am having difficulty returning to work for fear of electromagnetic interference. It baffles me how Boston Scientific and my EP can’t point me in the right direction to get back to work. My work requires me to be in areas that may or may not have EMI but to be on the safe side they suggest I use some sort of PPE to protect me. I’m sure there are others who have had similar situations. So I’m here to see if there&rsquo...

Recent recipient (9-17-18) of a Medtronic Quad CRT-D. Strange experience which maybe can be explained by someone with more "mileage" on their ICD than I.
CRT placement recommended as a result of A-Flutter which was converted in January. As a precaution the CRT was implanted.
A day or two before the surgery, I mowed our lawn ~ 1.5 acres with a Zero Turn, gasoline powered (B&S 22HP twin cylinder) and had absolutely nothing in the way of any discomfort, exer...

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while. I finally had to get an AV Node ablation and am now pretty much dependent on my pace maker. I was wondering if one of those Fitbit type exercise montering devices would interfere with my heart pacemaker? Hope everyone's is doing well.
thanks, Sharon
