I am a 66 year old who was a runner for 41 years until Afib ruined the party 13 months ago. I have had two ablations, and while the afib is now fairly minimal, I just cant run again because one of two things happen. My HR stays between 160-180 the entire time, or it returns to a normal area of 115-125 during a run, but then plumits to the low thirties in the hour after exercise. My EP has me considering a pacemaker. He has discussed single and dual chamber pacers. Has anyone chosen to have a...

I'm 70 and am very athletic, (well, I was in the past). Got my PM in 8/17/17 and an ablation on 11/14 for AF and flutter. Why is my heart rate so slow still? Are there undetectable beats occuring? The PM is set at 60 but my pulse is 40 to to 44 much of the time. Today I walked a brisk 1/4 mile and it the pulse was 48. Then I ran 2 miles in 20:30; it wasn't easy. After the run it was about 100 and quickly dropped to 60. I w...

Hi all, VT four years ago, undiagnosed to this day. Had a scar causing VT. Docs think old viral infection or bacterial infection/ Had ICD implanted four years ago and had a successful ablation two years ago. Have been off meds and VT free ever since and running alot since. I still have an ICD. Had an explant due to my ventricular lead malfunctioning 1.5 weeks ago, they think scar tissue started causing it to malfunction. The whole thing was explanted and the new one im...

Hi all,
I am 21 years old and I had my PM implanted 2 weeks ago for High Grade AV block (I used to faint frequently and complete heart block would occur for 40 seconds or longer). I am a cross country and track athlete in college, and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in getting back into long distance running after surgery. Today was my first time attempting to really run instead of just bike, and I feel very out of shape, short of breath, and tired when attempting to ru...

Got my pacemaker 31days ago, wondering when we can start to rebuild ourselves. I have shortness of breath with everything I do, just wondering if light exercise would help. or is it to early. I am thinking that conditioning would help my pvc's. The Doctor hasn't said when I can start to exercise.

So, got my second lead a few months ago. SO much better than the one lead I was first given for SSS. I was getting symptomatic again. Dizzy, tired. I went back to running awhile after the second lead was installed and found I could go longer and faster almost immediately. Now when I say faster, I mean faster for me. I’m an old marathoner (70) but have always tried to do one marathon a year as a little goal. I run about 14 minute miles over l...

I retired about 2 years ago. Now aged 68 and active all my adult life. Played squash, then running till my knee stopped me, then cycling, now golf. With gym work to maintain strength base.
Bradicardia kicked in last week when collapse with HR dropping to 25 or below precipitated implant of pacemaker. No warning and lucky to be here.
Keen to find rehab programme to get me back to fitness safely. Currently walking 1 to 1.5 hours most days.

Hi all,
I'm looking to really treat myself to a Garmin Fenix 5x. Can't seem to pin down if this would be a good buy or not. I've read that the heart monitor part doesn't work well with a St Judes pacemaker. Mine is PAS one wire type. The other thing is I wear it on my right wrist as I'm left handed. So would this help me? Hope this question doesn't sound to silly but I don't know who else to query this with apart from the hospital when I have a check up...

I got pacemaker implanted after couple fainting with loop recorder showing 27 second flatland. This was a year ago. I still get dizzy during an exercise even after 10 minutes if I exceed approximately 120 heart rate. My cardiologist doesn't know why. I had this problem before pacemaker implantation but very sporadically and to much lower intensity. I have attributed it ti first degree AV block but it did not bother me as much as it does now. I was athletic doing half ironme no and h...

Hi !
I'm new here - just discovered this group while searching for information on heart rate zones with a pacemaker. So happy to know there's support for people like us :)
Me in short - I'm 37 (female) and have had my pacer since 13 years old. I have complete heart block (congenital) with my bottom chamber being 100% dependent (top chamber is not). I just received my 4th battery this year (March), 6 months before completeing my&n...
