Hello, I have an ICD for VT. I had an ablation two years ago which took care of my VT. I had a scar of unknown origin which they believed was caused by an old virus. I have been running and without meds for two years, no events! I have an ICD now as a secondary precaution. Anyways, my ventricular lead has been slowly declining in function. I just found out that they need to replace it now because it is showing more noise than usual and my ICD could shock me! It sucks becaus...

Hi all,
i am an experienced runner with a resting heart rate of 50 however I have recently been diagnosed with Second degree block as my heart rate sometimes drops to 31. Needless to say I had a pace maker implanted three weeks ago set at 60. Is this too high considering my normal heart rate is 50. I have just started jogging again in anticipation of running hard again at 5/6 weeks. My appointment with the cardio physiologist is on 30 Nov. Any advice please

My 8 year old son recently started playing baseball, and I am working with him on batting. I pitch the ball to him at a moderate overhand speed. I have a right sided pacemaker and am right handed. I feel some soreness after workouts, but recently started thinkng about whether or not I could be causing lead damage. I have had my pacemaker since 2009, and it has never limited me from anything. Should I even be concerned?

I had a remote PM check on Wednesday. I got a call from the doctor's office and they have noticed some times where my heart rate went up over 150bpm. I asked her to check the times this happened. It’s good to know my cardiologist is on top of things, but I don't think there is a problem.
The reason my heart rate was up to 150bpm is because I have been walking the dog with my son up and down hills. My Apple Watch says I walked the equivalent to 22 flights of stairs in two mi...

Hi, I am new to this site and reasonably new to a PM... I have a question in relation to a complication and wondered if anyone else had suffered the same... a little back ground first!
In 2015 I was diagnosed as having complete heart block, my pulse of 28 apparently wasn't good. I was fitted with a PM and life was wonderful, well for 4 months... I had to have a CT scan and during that a cannula became loose and was reinserted, not the best idea as I ended up with...

Cliff's Notes version: I'm a life-long cyclist who had a pacemaker implanted November 2016 after developing a Wenckebach A/V block. No matter how the E.P. tweaked the settings, I would have a meltdown on my bike after only 20 minutes and would have to turn around and limp home.
Between my cardiologist and the E.P. they tried everything: echocardiogram, cardiac cathete...

hi, I am keen cyclist and can push myself really hard on the bike, I usually average 120 miles a week.
I have also had this happen but I now make sure to take in at least a litre and a half of water per ride with SIS electrolytes tablets.
It works for me so Giive it a go and, good luck.

I am new at this, so try to overlook my mistakes. But recently I have had sensations that I had before my pm, like dizzy, sweating, feling like I am going to pass out. i have a monitor that I can send transmissions directly to my Dr. He called today and said he did not see an problems, but possible severe dehydration, that could be causing the symptoms. Has anyone had this problem after exercise or intense yardwork? Thanks.

Hi here!
I just had my pm implanted last Sep 24. I am aching to play table tennis. Is it okay?
Honestly, it is a funny question for the doc should have cleared me on this. Problem is the doctor is very unattentive after the implant. Am getting frustrated cause he hasn't finished even the card or the docs needed for airports. This is one problem in this country, Saudi. The docs seem to just do not attend much to post care.
so i came to know this group. Hop...

Hi all.
Im brand new here. Got my boston scientifics pm in 2012 and Im 43 going on 44. Have had one incident or shock early in 2013 during a period of strenuous exertion. Recalibrated the unit and since then I have had no incidents, radically changed my diet and started excercising. The results of these changes have been fantastic to say the least. I have increased my fitness level enough to run two half marathons the previous two years and one unofficial self tracked full mar...

Does anyone know if it’s unsafe to use an exercise bike that has magnetic resistance? It basically has a big magnet in the case inbetween the pedals.

I'm 100% paced with a St Jude's pm.
i have a strong heart but couldn't fix my afib so have ended up with my pm.
My settings are 55 and 150....my unit doesn't want to pace me at more than 90 tops on exertion....I've had one adjustment. I intend keep going back until I'm satisfied. I'm 74 with a stronger than normal heart.....problems have just been electrical. What can I expect?

Hi all. Well 5 wks post op for pacemaker/ICD. Im 50 yrs old and struggling to know what exercise to do. Was very active with yoga and treadmill prior to, but quit doing all with diagnosis and decreased endurance, chest pain... blah blah blah. Now I have to get moving as I am gaining weight and the body imagine thing with a huge piece of metal in my chest and ever expanding butt is getting me down. I can walk flat surfaces... but inclines cause shortness of breath and severe leg mus...

Now 68, always been reasonably fit, 220-6ft. difficulty in climbing stairs in 2002. Found I had Atrial Fib, so had pacemaker installed after tests in 2003. Big improvement. Had pacemaker replaced about 2010 (batteries), history readout was fine (paces about 18% of the time).
I have been on betablockers since 2003 but felt that my heart was beating too fast and irregularly, so I tried increasing the dose about 4 months ago to what was the original dosage in 2003...

Hi all,
It has been a while since I have written on the forum. In May of 2015 I had an hybrid ablation due to persistent afib. Unfortunately I have binodal disease so a pacemaker was fitted. I am paced 85 percent in the atria and about 25 percent in the ventricles due to variable AV delays.
Since the operation my mitral valve has started to leak moderately and my tricuspid valve is leaking more than moderately, most likely due to the pacemaker lead running trough that...

Okay, so the Dr. told me that if I needed adjusments with my settings with exercise they would "tweek" them. How do I know if I need tweeking of my settings? I'm so confused because pre-pace maker my HR would shoot up to 140's-160's during exercise and I felt fine. It does that now but I feel more tired and have to stop more frequently. Not sure if it's because I just need to get used to my pacemaker, because I'm only 5 weeks post-op or if they need to adju...

Anyone gone scuba diving yet with their Micra TPS ( the out of sight out of mind) Medtronics pacemaker? Were there any issues?
