Okay to drive a motorcycle with ICD?

I've been considering getting an ICD because of my cardiomyopathy and as I was reading posts in this group about all the false positives -- shocks -- people were getting it made my wonder what the heck would happen if I were driving my motorcycle and the PM decides to zap me?

If I get an ICD will I have to give up motorcycles?

My new ICD

Hi there. I have now got a new badge of honour. Yes, my Medtronic ICD was implanted successfully on July 4th 2007. I am grateful to be privileged enough to have such a device, considering the need in this world, just for food for most.

another problem

well the year 65 seems to be the year that everything falls apart. to-day i found out i have glaucoma in both eyes so will take drops. i also now have copd but take spiriva and this helps immensely. i also have i forget the name of it but you can't eat seeds or corn lol so i also have cataracts and in november the doctor whom i saw to-day will operate. last but not least i have a pacemaker. the worst of it is you are always running to doctors and i hate doctors lol lol so here i am going to one...

Cellphones, radios

Had a CRT-D installed one month ago. Before the procedure I asked the doctor to try my two way ham radio to see it it interfered. It did not; however I don't know how close to the device the radio was when he transmitted with it. I will ask next appointment.

The radio transmits on 144 Mc with an output of 5 watts.

Cell phones are typically 300 milliwatts so the (my) radio has 15 times as much RF output. And cell phones are on 800 Mc or in the GHz range, for whatever differe...

Hi all, I will try to keep my posting as small as possible as I vent my concerns and appeal for help.
I have had an attack of ill feeling (skipped beats) in my chest and was concerned enough to go to the hospital as they became more frequent and repeatative over a 48 hour period. Hi pacers

Thank you all for the Birthday wishes. As you know we live in country Australia. I am truly blessed with so many friends via this wonderful site.

Discomfort at site area

Hi Everyone,
well I am still fairly new to this group as I just got my pacer on June 27th. So far my recovery has gone smoothly, very little pain. However the past 2 days has been a little annoying. I have slight discomfort at the site of the implant, it feels as if there is a weight there. Panic attack?

Posted a few days ago (Too much, too quick) Nearly three weeks since op, the odd ache dizzy spell etc since then but yesterday afternoon became very dizzy, sick and numbness in my neck and from my knees downwards, Could not stand it any more so rushed up to the hospital in the evening. Put on oxygen straight away and blood tests were taken, after two or so hours every test came back ok, and despite still feeling rotten they sent me on my way. Pacemakers/cell phones

Hey everyone...first post here.


I am 32 and after a lifetime of heart complications due to a congital heart defect I had an ablasion, a patch to fix a valve, a stint to widen a different valve and a pacemaker all 3 weeks ago. I am new here so im not sure how easy it is to search so forgive me if this has been asked and answered.

Do pacemakers affect cell phones? ie feedback etc?

Can I still enjoy roller coasters and things of that nature?

Pacemaker Replacement

Hi, I'm new. I am 31 yrs old and had 2 open heart surgeries due to congenital heart defects. One at 9 mos and other at 9 yrs old. I have been pacemaker dependent since I was a year old. I have had my current pacer for 18 years. Went to Dr.s last week and its time is apparently up. I am to go in next month for a pacer replacement. Pacemaker replacement in patients who already have AV node ablation

I have a biventricular synchronising pacemaker with only two of the 3 possible leads fitted due to incurable atrial fibrillation. The two leads that I have had fitted are pacing the ventricles at between 70 and 120 beats per minute. Has anyone had thier pacemaker replaced with a similar condition as I am a little concerned that my heart will stop dead when the leads are removed from my old pacemaker and that could cause sudden death.
