Hi everyone, I have just had my 6 week check at 8 weeks and have been told that one of my leads have been displaced and they may have to operate and correct it. I feel like I have been through a lot and I'm worried again as I am a natural worrier. Can anyone set my mind at rest and tell me what this involves. Many thanks to all. Karen

My granddaughter (9yrs old, HLHS, Complete AVSD, 7 yrs post Fontan) has had a PM for 2 1/2 yrs. She started out at a very low voltage of .25. Five months ago, they had to increase the voltage. She's had increases at each check up since then, and today they increased her another .25 for a total now of 1.5. She has two leads, but they are just doing atrial pacing. She is paced 50% of the time.
My question is, does this just sound like a bad or misplaced lead, or could it possibly be th...

Since implant my pm has had to be cranked up high in order for it to capture. They have no idea why. They had considered, about 6 weeks post implant, going back in to check to see if the leads were up against a wall of my heart. They opted against that (I didn't know then what I know now which is moving those leads is dangerous.) So, I'm scheduled to have my battery replaced just 3 years after implant. I suffer from panic disorder and, though I shouldn't, I read far too much and it's all confusi...

Hello ,
I just went to the doctor last friday and I was told I am going to have to have surgery within the next 2 months (this is somthing I was expecting). The surgery is for a pacemaker replacment the problem is my output on my leads is super high which is why the battery ran down so fas (I've only had it 3 years). I have a choice: I can either just get the battery replaced and deal with haveing that surgery every 2-3 years or I can elect to have a open chest/heart proceedure where they...

I have a biotronic pacemaker and get frequent episodes of feeling faint. The consultant told me that sometimes the battery is turned of to save the battery. I have a monitor box by my bed. Is this true about the batteries being turned off?

Had PM implanted Sept 2015. 2nd degree AV block. Ended up in ER and catheterization as they thought I was having a heart attack. No blockage but noticed lower chamber not firing - up to 23 second intervals. Things had been fine until a week ago when starting experiencing same symptoms as prior to PM - short of break, weakness, etc. Progressed quickly to point I ended up in ER. BS rep came in and did interrogation. When she checked the lower chamber something happened and all symptoms went aw...

Hi! I am new to the club . I meet with my surgeon this week to discuss the changing of my first battery. I'm a little nervous. Unlike me most of you that I have research, my pacer is gastric because I have gastroparisis. I've had a lot of abdominal surgery and I am concerned about this one because I don't know what to expect. I appreciate your insight. Thank you!

Hello, My 88 year old mother had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted 4 weeks ago. I do not know the make and model yet but I will. She is happy and doing well and that's a blessing I wont forget. But she mentions to me that if she places her hand over the pacemaker she can fell that it is warm. Not warm like it bothers her but just warm. She even says she likes it when sleeping because she can warm her hands. All I said to her was to inform her doctor during her next visit and see if this is norm...

Hello all, I wanted to introduce myself. I have had a pacemaker since March of 2008 and a defib since Jan 2009. I just had my batter/gen change done on Wednesday and since I feel so much better. Its hard to explain but I don't have shaky legs, I don't get bobble headed.. My mind feels more clear and I have more focus. I was wondering if anyone else had this feeling after a battery change. I been feeling pretty bad overall the last 3-4 months and overnight I am doing like I was 4 months ago...

Hi all,
I got my second pacemaker about 2 weeks ago. Have had what they thought was a pocket hematoma, but they were treating with antibiotics just in case.
Today, a bunch of infection started to drain from a tiny hole in the top of my incision. I called, and the cardiologist says that I will need to have the whole system taken out.
I am terrified, because I understand that the lead removal requires a trip to the cardiac OR, not just cath lab. My leads ha...

Hi,I am due to have a new box put in my first since being placed. I am scared stiff as I had such a bad experience when I had my pacemaker implanted.
Do they give you a sedative to keep you calm?

I had a Medtronics pacemaker/defibulator/synchronizer implanted June 2015. After getting up the next day from the hospital bed I felt an internal thumping or hiccup. The technicians and doctor tested all of the signal points and determined to turn off this part and let the lead settle. In September I was tested and the final signal point tried did not give me any thumping. I was happy. Now, in March 2016 I had a couple of days of returned thumping. I went in earlier this week to be tested a...

will be 4 weeks post op from pacemaker placement. Last week I started gently moving my arm more and noticed that at the end where the leads were attached to the pacemaker, it was poking out and very visible during certain movements. is this normal?
I am very small framed, so I wondered if that maybe the reason it is showing through.
Greetings

Hello everyone,
I came across this forum by happy accident - which I had found it years ago! I just wanted to post a short introduction and hello to everyone before I jump into the pond. I have SSS, 100% pacemaker dependent. Was misdiagnosed or undiagnosed all of my life until heart failure nearly killed me. That was 2003 when I got my PM. I had the battery/PM replaced once in 2009 and am now laying abed waiting for the next one. The first time I kept asking my MD to check me, I was n...

Hi! I have had my pm for 4months last Tuesday and an about to go in to try to get my ventricle lead moved. It stimulated my diaphragm from the beginning so they turned my voltage down and my rate down to 35 to keep me from feeling it. They wanted to do surgery right after they found the problem but I convinced them to wait until after my basketball season was over. Well now it's over but they said they might not be able to extract it but will have to put another lead in.
I have a few...

It's much better to live with a pacemaker than to risk your life without one.
