Which of the dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker would be best for an 8 year old child from following perspectives: Restoration of physiology, longevity and the size of the scar and bulge! She has had a medtronic, epicardiac, single chamber rate responsive, kappa device 6 yrs ago.which now needs to be replaced by a dual chamber device. I am afraid doctors may have proprietary interests that dictates their choice.

I had my fourth pacemaker implanted in August 2011 and I am currently experiencing "noise" in the atrial lead. Specifically when I cross my arms, or press my left arm against a table or door or even my mattress at night, my heart starts to pound (my current pacemaker is implanted on the left side). Have any of you experienced this condition? What do you think is happening?
My EP ordered a venogram and discovered that the veins on my left side were too blocked to go through and so he c...

I'm seven weeks into my dual chamber pacer. Just wondering if maybe I've done damage to the leads...much busier than I should be, I suppose. How much activity does it take to damage the leads or pull them out? I'm back to walking with no light headness, so maybe I'm OK? Have any of you damaged your leads after implantation?

Hi, I am new to this group but doing research. I have had a pacemaker since 1978. I am on pacemaker #5 and on my second set of wires, of which one was implated Dec 1987; the other April of 1996. My old wire is using up my battery life fast - I am told that the next time I will have to have a new wire..possibly two. In researching, I've found this is life threatening to remove the wires. I have one set of wires that have been abandoned on right side; the other wires were place in my left sid...

I sm the recipient of a new pacemaker. I believe the leads are covered by some type of silicone coating and I am very concerned. I developed antibodies to silicone back in the early 90's along with a connective tissue disease related to Lupus. This has caused great suffering. I am sensitive to a number of things and various drugs. It is my understanding that silicone can become a part of various body proteins, thus resulting in antibodies to the involved proteins. I realize that this concern mig...

Really appreciate this PM club, It really solved a lot of my silly questions. I recently goes for another Dr , he told me that i suppose to place PM Modal DDDR01, Instead of modal ADDR01. What is this two differences, Oh my gods, i just have my pm last 2 years and now he say that is more suitable. I really sad when i heard this Dr explanation and i really dont know what to do now, My next appointment with the 1 Dr is next months, I wonder how to face the Dr.
Did anybody found up and change...

I am fully dependant on a pacemaker due to a surgically induced complete heart block. I have recently reached my ERI.
What would be the manifestations when my PM reaches the end of its life? Since i am fully dependant, would it be quick? Or I may have symptoms due to congestive cardiac failure? What are the likely symptoms and the duration. Please explain.

Hello,
My husband has a Biotronik Cylos DR since 2008. We received a call from the clinic saying they couldn’t get a reading on his pacemaker and to do a phone check. He did the phone check, but they still couldn’t get a reading so we went to Jackson. He was put on 2 machines as they thought it was the battery, but we have 3 years on the battery since they finally got the reading, but said the top chamber in the electrical part is just quivering and...

HELLO :)
I hope someone out there can help me.
I'm 22 years old and i've had my pacemaker since i was 13. Its positioned just under my left armpit. I've never had any problems with it until it came to a box change last year due to the battery. Ever since i had the operation its been giving me no end of pain. Everything i do, whenever i move or even lye down its painful. Because of this i convinced my surgeon to operate on me agin, simply to just reposition the box to see if thi...

I am a current full-time MBA student at Said Business School of University of Oxford, UK, and (together with other four fellow students) working on an entrepreneurship project and the subject matter of the project is "application wireless data and power transter on implantable cardiac pacemakers". The so called wireless technology is a new one developed by a subsidiary of University of Oxford called ISIS Innovation Centre and we, as the EP group, had the idea that this technology would be a perf...

Every time I am running now, I feel enough muscle pain in the left side of my back just in the middle (the side where my pace maker is inserted), and I am wondering if that muscle pain has something to do with my pacemaker that has been inserted since September 2009. Please any comments to cool me down

I've been lurking around the forum for years and have found so much comfort realizing that I'm not the only one going through some of this stuff!
After some dizzy spells and heart palpitations, I had my four an a half year old pacemaker interrogated only to find out that my 10 year old ventricular lead was failing. Seeing as how I pace 100% of the time in my ventricle, this is apparently a problem. I was told there are two options in this situation, to leave the old in, or to have it...

When the device form shows "EST remaining longevity: 2.81 v months/years," does that mean that I have 2 months or 2 years left remaining on my PM battery? Thanks.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and saw some posts about lead replacements. I just got back from lead revision surgery. I had 3rd degree heart block on Jan 4th and had a St Jude Pacemaker placed. About 10 days later I had severe muscle pain in my right breast. I told the dr about it when I went back for my 3 weeks check up since it was occuring frequently. He said it shouldn't have anything to do with my heart. However the examination showed my atrial lead wasn't responding. A week later the pai...

Since I am 100% paced in both my atrium and ventricle, I was wondering what happens when my battery life is low and I have to have a new PM? It seems the doctor will have to take the old leads out of the present PM to insert the new one? Does my heart just stop for awhile? Thanks.

YEAH, I just got me a brand spankin new St. Jude Pacemaker. It has this feature in it that they may automatically take readings without me going in. I have something like wifi. I have a machine at home that takes readings and relays them back to St. Jude monitoring. The doctor went over my existing scar and did a great job. It was easy, same day in and out. I haven't yet named this one, I was thinking Betsy.
Anyone have any names for my new PM? I am open to suggestions. To al...
