My biotronik pacemaker was implanted in late August 2016 and this past week the cardiologist told me that one of the leads had dislodged. What should I expect to happen to resolve this problem . I will have sergery on 1/6/17 to replace the lead, at a Baylor FW.

I found out yesteray that one of my leads has gone bad. I have a medtronic PM due to bradycardia. As it was explained to me, the leads have 3 parts, an outer and inner wire and insulation on the outside. The PM detected that the outer wire was not operating and switched automatically to the interior wire. I never noticed. The hypothesis is that the insulation "went bad" This leads only paces .2% of the time, my upper lead paces 100% of the time. My doctor sent me for a chest X-...

Hi ,
Just curious. Ive recently had another atrial lead placed as the original had gone a little wrong. I was paced at 60 bpm. Just checked my pulse (and I dont even know why I did it lol) and noticed that my heart was beating at 50 bpm. checked it again and the same thing was happening. Now my question is this: Would the technician have lowered my pacing rate and not told me? and what would be the reason for this? Got to say, I feel fine and am...

Hi Guys
My sport is marathon kayak racing, I paddle an epic v10 surfski, and one of the members of my club who has also recently had a pacemaker fitted told me that his cardiologist and pacemaker rep advised him against paddling anymore as the movement of the arm would wear the leads out.
When I saw my cardiologist and rep 5 weeks ago they advised that I would have no problems returning to the sport that I love, any comment appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Because this forum has been so helpful to me, I'd like to give back as much information as I have/know on the subject. I have posted twice before recently and some of this is repetitive.
In 1988, at the age of 34, my father had a pacemaker/defribillator put in his abdominal cavity (he was the 90th person in the US to have the defribillator lead (you have to brag where you can)). At that point in time, the plates were actually attached to your heart. At 40, those leads were disc...

Wow! It's been so long since I have been on here to say hello to everyone! Has it really been 9 years since I got my 1st pacer implanted?! Boy has the time flown.
Life has been crazy, we had a handsome little boy who will be 4 on December 31st and it has been such a joy to raise him.
Anywho, I went in for my battery check up today and they are saying it is going to be super soon that the battery will have to be replaced. This is so much sooner then I expected as I...

He had lead extraction yesterday. They successfully extracted four of his leads. They were able to implant the pacemaker/defribillator lead, but because of his kidney disease and his allergy to dye, they couldn't implant the lead that sync his two chambers because they couldn't find the Coronary Sinus.
They kept him under for too long and his blood pressure dropped too low. Apparently it was dropping throughout the surgery. When they tried to extubate him,...

Medtronic pacemaker man said thta sometimes it does happen that one can trigger off the pacemaker goinf past sensor if sensors are set high by store but rare.
Pacemaker doing fine still 7years to go on it.
I do though have at least 100 or more Tachy episodes all just a few seconds which I know I have . Have had these flutterings ever since I was about 15ish. So I am not concerned. The Atrium they think is where its coming from but cannot be sure. I am now using pacemaker in top ch...

The lead on my St. Jude implanted pacemaker failed to get the "correct voltage" into my heart. I had this pacemaker implanted about 7 years ago, but the lead had been in for many years throughout 3 pacer implants...same lead.
One night last October I was fatigued and could hardly stand up. Triage at St. Lukes immediately got the St. Jude's rep who told me the leads were not producing current enough to get my heart at normal rate and there were "no margins" left t...

Just checking if anyone has set off the sensor at the supermarket checkout. Today I set it off about 5 times .
After setting it off I seemed to go very weak and disoriented , I go to supermarket and walk thorugh sensors and it has never happened before.
I am home and absolutely exhausted and all I want to do is sleep. Really odd .
I have had a medtronic 2 lead inserted 7 years ago.

Having a major panic. This morning I was pulling my jeans up (mainly with right hand/arm) and as I was pulling them up I must have done a silly movement with my chest as I had a pain on the left side of my chest. It went just as quickly as it appeared but I've been left worrying ever since. I'm worried I ripped a lead out. To make matters worse I'm an anxious person as it is and I'm in a different city to my pacemaker clinic until Friday. Can anybody make me feel better b...

Hello all....
Trying to digest the St. Jude recall. I am a Veteran and doctor at the VA. So, my letter arrived, and I have been in contact with the VA ICD Clinic. Trying not to be alarmed. HOWEVER....
My ICD is 5 years old and has "1.7" life left. I had an abation a year ago, although painful and long, well worth the efforts of all.
I was told I was 80% dependant and been told the "dependant" patients are being replaced...

I had a pacemaker implanted 9/26. The atrial lead pulled out overnight in the hospital. The doctor explained it was a complicated surgery due to the vein the receives the leads is 5 inches below my collar bone. They redid the next day, placing the pacemaker in a silk bag and suturing it to the wall of my chest. 2 1/2 weeks later the atrial lead again dislodged causing diaphram pacing. They have turned off the atrial lead and set the ventricle lead to no less than 60 bps. I am now faced with h...

I was just notified by St. Jude at the request of my Doctor that my Fortify Unify Quadra CRT-D has been recalled due to a premature battery depletion. Any of theses made prior to 2015 have been recalled. Mine was implanted January 2013. It is a FDA Class 1 recall which is the most serious class. My Doctor is advising all patients with this device to get a replacement. St Jude agrees to pay up to $2500 of my deductible and provide a new device free of charge. Is...

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
