Hi folks,
How many of you have your device (PM or ICD) implanted underneath the skin or subpectoral? How do you feel in terms of carrying out activities or just try to live a normal life? Are there any issues in regards to skin errosion or wire protruding for underneath skin or other problems if put subpectoral? I would love to hear from you.

Breastfeeding with an ICD
I am almost 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child. (Survived SCA due to vtach at 8 weeks along and got my defibrillator...) The medications I am on are compatible with breastfeeding and I would like to have this experience with this baby as well. That being said, had anyone breastfed with a defibrillator? I was a picture of health at 58 yrs young up until Jan 30th and started feeling light headed during workouts.
My doctor did a ekg and said it looked different than 5 yrs ago so scheduled a stress test.
Well 10 1/2 minutes into the test, my heart rate went from 160 to 240 and sustained Vtach for 10 minutes.
They ran every imaginable test and now I have this ICD in me due to none other than genetics.

I received my first icd shock
I am a new member and happy to have found a support group. Two days ago I received my first ICD shock and now im an emotional wreck. I was told my heart went through V Fibrillation, so the device saved my life. Ive had an icd for about a year and a half now. Coping is difficult

Okay, everything went pretty well I think. I find the site quite painful and it has a very deep itch. I am managing with the tylenol for pain though. I had two really crazy dizzy spells and I took my fitbit off (I don't know why I thought I needed it on) for now, at least until I get settled in.
I do feel a kind of comfort knowing that If I do get some "funny" spells like I do, then my ICD is my friend.

Nuclear stress test and ICD
Prior to another ablation doc wants me to have echo and nuclear stress test. My ICD has been set at pacing at 125 bpm and shock st 150. At moment my heart can go into arrythmia just sitting at computer. It goes straight to 106-110 bpm and normally lasts for a few minutes. However lately it has taken as long as 3 days before cardioverting. No fun. Now I have insurance, doc wants to do another ablation with an impeller. I guess the stress test is done to determine if I need the impeller.

Pacemaker/ICD wires blocking my superior vena cava
The superior vena cava sits just above the right atrium. Mine has two wires passing through it which in the past 6-8 months have grown vegitation or scar tissue that has nearly 100% blocked my svc. im looking for a place that does not charge you a arm and a leg to replace my device the place in Georgia where i got my first one want around $100000 and i am disabled and only have medicare and they said i only have 2 volts left on mine so any info would be great .
Shocks
AS I am getting more comfortable with the idea of have my first ICD, I have a few more questions I hope you folks can shed some light on.
My EP told me that because I am having an ICD implanted for arrhythmias I am at a greater risk of the ICD messing up, ie: shocking me unnecessarily and that I have a 10 to 15% chance of this happening, whereas an ICD implanted has 5-10% chance if implanted for other reasons. He bases these numbers on his own experience.
I am worried about this....

Someone posted about and odor coming from them. I didn't have to use deodarant very often. Since my ICD i smell like a rotting bag of onions in a damp dark basement.My poor husband and son have to deal, i feel bad. It gets so bad that i would be afraid to get a job.What's wierd about it, is that it doesn;t make my shirts smell it just comes from me. I wsh my pits and it helps for a little while, then i smell all over again.

Hello everyone, I am pleased to find you! I will be getting my first ICD next month for Apical HCM and nonsustained Vtach, I have very few if any symptoms. I am nervous about it and I am trying to learn as much as possibe about them before hand. I have been given the choice of Boston Scientific DDD-ICD or Medtronic DDD-ICD. I really don't know any pros and cons, if anyone has experience with either or has any words of wisdom I would really like to hear from you.
