Pulse Rate
My husband has ICD which is set at 70bpm.In the last few months he has been ill with a cough that keeps hanging on.On both occasions when he saw the Doctor to check he didn't have a chest infection his pulse rate was reading 40 and the doctor told him to go to A and E as was at risk of ICD shocking him.The first time we went and the Dr explained his pulse was 40 because he was having ectopic beats and nothing to worry about,so when he had same pulse rate this week he didn't go to...

I am a machinist by trade and in my work use a large surface grinder which has a magnetic surface area of aprox. 2 feet wide x 5 feet long with a thickness of 3-4 inches will something like this affect my icd I would be within very close contact with the surface many times throughout the day.
Two pacemakers in the space of 4 months.

Hi. I was wondering if any of you have had this experience. On October 4th of 2016, I had a new PM implanted to correct a condtion called dysynchrony which means that, as a result of HCM surgery back in 2009, my heart chambers were not beating in synchronization. A biventricular PM was implanted to correct this condition. 3 months later (last week) I went in for my first checkup after the biventricular PM was implanted. The doctor now says I need an ICD PM instead because now my ventricles ar...
Increased tenderness over the incision site!
Hello everyone!
I'm 22 years old and in October I received my dual chamber ICD, recently I got sick with Strep went on antibiotics, strep resolved. However yesterday, I started feeling super sharp/burning over the incision, and today the site is much more tender. Should I play it safe and get it checked out or wait and see? Don't want to be the girl who cried ICD infection😂 Thanks
Had an event Tues night.
Tuesday night around 9pm I woke up and felt funny. Was having slight breathing issues. Sat on the side of the bed and it seems okay. Next thing I knew I was face down on the floor. Don't recall getting there. I was still having some breathing issues but again didn't seem that bad. I couldn't reach my phone on the bed to get help.
Not sure how long I was on the floor (at the time) but eventually, I was able to get up far enough to get to my...

Hi All,
I am posting for my dad. He is 60 years old. Had a pacemaker (ICD)surgery in March 2016. His Ejection Fraction was dropped to 10-15%, thats why doctor suggested to get a pacemaker installed. After having pacemaker for 6 months, when his Ejection Fraction was tested again, its just 25%.
I would like to provide few more details here. I would really appreciate your help in deciding whether what our cardiologist is doing is right.
Cardiologist said surgery will take 45 m...
pacer
I don't get it!I just used my pulse / odometer . The tech daisy pacer was set for 60, I just got a reading of 57,58 59, then 60 (took a few seconds) Is the thing working right? I don't want to call dr with this, by the way I am just sitting up in bed! Not doing anything. I thought this thing preventing your pulse from going lower? A puzzling thing, thank you in advance for your help, ileen
New with a ICD Cardioverter/Defibulator 3 wire
So I've had CHF for close to 5 years but my heart itself has been ok. An event in mid-Oct caused some damage and I had issues with out of rhythm reducing the effectiveness of the ejection refraction.
2 days ago, I had an ICD implated (3 wire - St. Jude Medical Medical device) and the proceedure was normal I was told. The next morning, after going to the restroom while still in the hospital I started to get kicking feeling that really spooked me. Apprently one of th...

Review of pulse rate monitoring gadgets
Thought I'd throw this out for other ICD user's that have had the same issue as me. Ever since getting an ICD 6 months ago I've been overly concerned with keeping track of my pulse rate while exercising. Prior to my single VTac episode earily this year I was a daily 4 or 5 mile jogger. At this point I do a long daily walk and include a shorter jog with it.
At first I purchased a Fitbit HR to keep track of my pulse rate. Worked fine for everyday life but when exercising...
"Minor" shocks from ICD
My father, who is also on kidney dialysis, received a pacemaker and ICD for CHF at the end of September 2016, and I am so very glad to find this message board. I live out of state, but I am currently at his house during his recovery from surgery.
Today and this evening, for the first time, he has felt what he describes as "shocks," which we assume are from the ICD. Most were mild -- more like twinges -- but enough to make him exclaim. We called his cardiologist, and they told...

I have a choice between replacing my current 3 lead pacer with a defib model, or adding a subcutaneous defib instead. Thoughts?

Chest pain related to my ICD?
Hello - I'm brand new to this site, but have had my ICD for close to seven years now due to HOCM post myectomy. Over the past few months, I have had very sharp pains close to my ICD. The pain seeems to me to be below my ribs and is very sharp and intense. Today, the pain brought me to my knees it was so intense. It did pass and I feel OK now, but I also am aware of something still causing minor discomfort.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience...

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
