Just a Tidbit

Yesterday I saw my EP/Cardiologist for a follow-up appointment.  All is good for the most part but I did mention how my everday walks include hills and how they completely zap my energy and cause me to be so short of breath.  I asked him how he felt about perhaps making an adjustment to my rate response.  He looked somewhat surprised and asked where I had learned about rate response.  I answered "oh I belong to the Pacemaker Club and that subject is frequently discuss...

A couple questions . . .

Hi,
It's been a while since I've been on here. I had my first pacemaker / dual-chamber implanted at age 57 for Bradycardia w/ AV block, Mobitz 1 (Wenckebach). Also, diagnosed w/ HF. Then in 2020 I had it replaced with a CRT pacemaker. So.... my questions are:
1. If you have a CRT, how long have you had it?
2. If you have HF, how long have you had it?
Thanks,
Damie

How to Read Interrogation Report

Just received my interrorgation reports (all 25 pages in total) from my first two interrogations; Day after implant and 13 days after implant.  The Google U course for "Reading Interrogation Reports", doesn't start till next semester, so till then can anyone share the points I want to look at or pay attention to? I don't expect to find any smoking guns or surprises, but I do hope to get a feel for what's being measured and how this makes a difference to me. &nb...

SVT and pacemaker

This past year I was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia.  My pacemaker was implanted in 2016  due to sinus node disease.  My Electrophysiologist won't even speak of an ablation.  Has anyone a similar situation?

Boston Scientific Accolade MRI EL Model L331 undergo MRI scan

I have a referral from my neurosurgeon for an MRI cervical spine scan with my Pacemaker.

My Pacemaker is the Boston Scientific Accolade MRI EL Model L331, and was implanted on 15/03/2019. I am very concern regarding the impact of the MRI scan on my pacemaker. I read it has a MRI mode where they can adjust the impedance so that I can undergo a MRI, after which they will reset it back to normal. Can anyone please confirm this, and who sets my pacemaker?

not what I expected

Good evening everyone,

I am new to this group and am hoping you will give me guidance and good advise.

I had a pacemaker inserted on the 13th.  I have sick sinus syndrome.  Which took the doctors at least three years to figure this out!.  I had been very fatiqued, short of breath, and had to sit down after any activity to catch my breath.

I have a apple watch so can monitor my heart rate.  The issue is I have had NO changes at all in my symptoms.  An...

Pacemaker 101 - Great Resource

In my studies at the University of Google, I found this resource that explains pacemakers and all of their functions and jargon in a pretty user friend way.  It leans a bit towards the geeky side but not so much that an regular person without a tech or medical degree couldn't understand.  (full disclosure, I've got the tech degree... *haha*)

2 weeks+ post CSP Implant - and quite the ride

Starting out with the good news - I've had my 2 week Device Check-up, and all looks good.  It was a kinda weird experience watching as the RN tapped a few keys and I could feel my heart start to race (which I was told I might "feel").  I half expected the nurse to tap another button and then my feet would start dancing... *lol*   I had a lot of questions but no surprise the nurse was unable to answer.  I was told that at present the unit is set at 3.5 vo...

Low pulse Rate

My resting pulse rate is regularly way below my set rate of 60.  At rest it is commonly in the 40s. This is confirmed by counting, Fitbit, oxyometerr and blood pressure cuff.  I do at times, have a large amount of ectopic beats when the rate goes down below 60.  I can make the ectopic beats go away by raising my HR with exercise.

Anyone else experienced sustained low hr? Do you think that it could be pacemaker malfunction?

atrial fibrillation

I am now 7 months into  receiving my pacemaker . I really was hoping I would be so much better than before the procedure . Unfortunately I still find myself getting breathless on walking up inclines and experience chest pressure when I move fom a seated position quickly . I have also had one 3hr episode of atrial fibrillation. The ECG on my fitbit is always inconclusive only occaisionly showing normal sinus rhythm . I have been for checks  at the Pacemaker  clinic and I wa...

New to PM Club

I would just like to say how helpful and informative plus calming all of your posts have been for me since I just received my Pacemaker in February. According to my recent check up, I have not had any episodes of atrial flutter since this was put in and I hope it stays that way as it was ruling and ruining my life. Thank you all so much--keep those posts coming!

Complete extraction of pacemaker and leads

Hi! I'm member here since 3 years, but only because our daughter got a PM aged 6 (Syncopes, AV Block 3)

Eversince the implant the pm showed only 1% or 0%. Now one of the leads is too short so action is needed.

The docs have put the pm down to 30 since 2 months and nothing happened, no dizziness or syncopes, nothing. They are now recommending to remove the PM because they think it's not necessary anymore and to give her heart the possiblity to grown without leads and have a...

Breathlessness

I had a pacemaker placed on February 22. I have been having shortness of breath only when walking a good distance, but none otherwise. I had my first device check two weeks ago and the cardiologist said all was fine, but this bothers me. I feel great otherwise. What could be the problem and will I adjust?

Symptomatic while pacing

I have now had my PM for nearly 6 months and have had a lot of difficulty getting it set right. I have had 5 adjustments going from DDR to VVI then back to DDR and with rate response turned on and then off after a severe episode of PMT. I do not know all the settings but the P-R intervsal is set to trigger at 0.225 sec (slightly long) and what what is called atrial blanking increased to full (to block the PMT) and then reduced to allow the PM to track up to 125 bpm. My initial problem was&nbs...

Differences between QRS during procdure vs QRS post=procedure

Trudging through my operative report from recent pacemaker placement, I see that when the LBB lead was being placed they measured QRS at 125ms at the "sweet spot" where lead was implanted.  However, post-procedure ECGs measured the QRS at 152 (down from 164 pre-placement).  Can anyone shed some light regarding the differences in QRS measured during the procedure vs the QRS measured after the procedure (like 3 or 4 hours later)?  Is something like this common?  (I...

Up Date with New Game Plan

Just home from the hospital . The original game plan was to impant a Medtronics CRT-P but they had to change course mid-procedure becuase they could not find any vessels that would allow them access to the left ventricle lead implant location. The back-up plan called for the installation of a  2-lead, Medtronic Azure system for Conduction System Pacing which is what happened.  I hadn't researched this option quite as thoroughly as the CRT-P but it had been discuss...

Lucky me get's two incisions: one in the chest for the device itseslf, and another in the groin which they'll use during the procedure to...

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
