Dental X-ray and drills

Hi All,

I have just got back from the Dentist and had to under go root canal treatment. This mean that there was lots of drilling and and x-ray. I did advise the Dentist that I had a PM and she said it was ok...

I'm still new to this only had the PM for 6 weeks, any advice would be great, as I have to go back in 1 week for phase 2 of drilling and more than likely another x-ray... I have a PM checkup tomorrow, so will ask there, but I don't seem to get definitive answers about interference and devices.

Thanks

You are safe. As long as your dentist knows you have a pacemaker, you'll be fine.

You could always call Medtronic (or whatever brand you have) and they will answer your questions for you.

Best of luck with your root canal. :)

Do a search

In the upper right hand corner, click on search, type 'dentist' or 'dental' in the search box and read.

You should be good to go. Just inform your dentist of all of your medications, and all of your health problems (something he should know anyways)
It seems that everytime I go to the dentist I have to update my medical questionaire.
My dentist will not use Epinephrine on me at all, although my cardiologist says that it's okay. It forces, the dentist to use plain Novacaine which doesn't last as long as Epinephrine, which means more shots for me.
I'm due for two crowns next week. I asked my dentist this morning at my cleaning if I needed to withhold my thinners. He said no.
Just share your health needs with your dentist, and you should be fine.

Good luck,
Angelie

Ok for sure!

I am an xray tech and a pacemaker patient...My doc is well aware of my profession...and so I can tell you with great certainty that xrays do not affect pacemakers :) The only type of xray that is bad for pacemakers is MRI, those are a big no, no, lol!
