Ok...surgery was Feb 8th and I have been doing so much better. I notice last night that the bottom of my incision is red again...and now this morning it looks like its abcessed???? I also still have a dissolvable (NOT) stitch sticking out at the top, but its not red????

As far as the abscess, I'd call your Dr. ASAP.
I have a stitch that sticks out, but figure they can snip it next time I'm there. (I'm not doing it! LOL)
yes, of course!

Things never happen M-F 9-5 :o)
If it gets any worse, call their emergency number and try again to get them to call you back rather than wait until Monday. Infections can get out of control very quickly, you really don't want to wait too long to be seen.

Does everything happen on a Friday or on the weekend when you cant just talk to a nurse???
Thanks...I'm sure its gonna be fine. Hopefully they'll call even if its after 5!
Andrea....beautiful day in Texas!

Call your dr and be seen asap. Red is not necessarily bad, but abscess is not a good sign. If it's infected, you need to nip it in the bud. Better to make a trip for nothing than miss early signs of a problem.
I had a stitch poking out also, woke up one morning and it looked like a piece of fishing line coming out LOL. They told me to snip it close then cover it with bacitracin and a bandaid for a day. But ask before you do anything!
removed a stitch

On my last replacement I had a stitch stick out. I dont know how long but it finally just came out, no problem, I did go see the doc right away to have her look at at the site. Having this foreign body (a pacemaker and leads) in your body you have to be careful about infections, anywhere, particularly near your pacer, so it is better safe than sorry to have someone look at it. Go to the ER if a night or weekend and you cant see the doc. A handful of hours at the ER or waiting for the doc to see you is easier than having a pacer and leads removed because your body decides to reject them.
You know you're wired when...
You prefer rechargeable batteries.

Hi Andrea,
I agree with TraceyE!!! Better safe than sorry. Some infections are harder to kill than others and some can lead to much greater problems. Good Luck on this situation.
