I have a battery powered pacemaker and I have been told about a induction pacemaker and wondered if anyone has any exeperance of them?

There is a lot going on in the field, but I haven't seen anything in the medical electronics publications I receive. There has been suggestions that the pacer could use a rechargeable battery that is charged by bringing a coil near it. This is very practical except for the battery. A battery that is implanted has to be safe as far as leakage or explosion from overcharge, short circuits, or just wearing out. The FDA hasn't been willing to approve of one so far.

Another possibility is what is called Energy Harvesting. One way out suggestion is a small pacer that is implanted in the chest on the heart wall. It would use the movement of the heart to generate electricity to charge a capacitor rather than a battery. A lot of work to be done here though.

A disadvantage to a more permanent pacer is it's becoming obsolete. Our battery replacement cycle of 5-8 yrs gives a chance to get a newer version.
