Had my original pacemaker 2/2013.Long story short the first EP botched the surgery. My regular cardiologist ignored, signed off when there was a lead warning, and blew me off even after 7 appts with him and the Medtronic people over a 4 month period. I sought help at the Cleveland Clinic where I was not ignored, I was treated with respect, they listened, they validated my symptoms and more. On 5/1/2013 I was scheduled for an atrial lead extraction and replacement but when they saw all of the damage they extracted both leads, replaced them and placed a new pacemaker. What a difference in care and technique! I wish and pray for all of you have to have similar procedures the same quality and level of care that I had this second time around. Do your research, you all deserve the best care!

I have heard great things with regard to the Cleveland Clinic. Glad you had a great experience.

Ok, so I see you are in Ohio, good thing we have the great cardiac care here, are you in the northern part of the state? Just wondering.
My EP is Baranowski, and the surgeon was Dr Chung( I think it was).
I only know 1 person around me which has a PM,so I sometimes feel like the odd duck around here>!

who was your Dr?

I had a good experience at the Clinic also, just curious as to who you had on the medical end of your experience.
I had my 1st PM put in last July, which was a sudden thing,so I didn't have time to check into anything at all,let alone any Doctors.I took who they assigned me,and have been pleased thus far.
Are you in Ohio?

I am in SW Ohio and because of the lack of care I was receiving from my longtime cardiologist I chose to request a second opinion at the Clinic. My EP was Dr. Tarakji who also was assigned to me. I can't say enough about the higher quality of care and compassion! I'm glad that you too are doing well

Thank you! The difference in my care has been so extreme. I cannot say enough about the great care I was provided by my new EP and all of the staff of Cleveland Clinic.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.

The original pacemaker was placed 2/11/2010 not 2013
