My PM was implanted 5/26. I'm experiencing mild to severe pain in my breasts. I'm female. I would say a 6 on the pain scale. The pain goes all around my torso (underarms, breasts, back, ribs - like a band). I have never experienced this type pain. It started after the PM surgery and I've been free of it for maybe one week in the interim. I have it now. My boobs feel larger and heavier when I have the pain. My doctor told me that women react differently than men to the surgery. Any encouraging words from someone out there? Thanks.

I'm a woman and I also have a high tolerance for pain. I had discomfort sleeping after the PM, and I had problems adjusting to the "clunking around" the thing was doing when I would bend forward or roll to my side but certainly nothing that would be called pain. I had things that were annoying or uncomfortable. Two months is not forever, but it's a long time when you are in pain. I agree with Pookie that it just doesn't seem righ to me. The areas where you are experiencing discomfort are unfamiliar to me and I never experienced this. Be the squeaky wheel and if that doesn't work, be the ex-patient and find another doctor. YOu can't do on like this for another 2 months and it appears nothing is being done to find the cause and alleviate the pain.

Go back to doctor, go to breast doctor. I have had pain in my left breast like a electric shock after my PM was put in. I had trama from CPR they did to keep me in this lifetime. I could barely move when they got me stablized. They put in PM, I got home maybe 3/4 days. And I had this electric shock in left breast. We went to emergency room. They put EKG and monitored me for 5 or 6 hours. Medtronic guy showed up and tested the settings. They said they did not know what it was. We went home. I took a Loratab, the symtoms went away. They said probably nerve trama? didn't know. I haven't had problems since. I have had a pain under breast and shoots around chest feeling a couple of times. When it happened, I took a deep breath and tried to stretch see if it would get worse or better, it seems to get better. My guess spasm?gas? The pain never stayed long enough to make me go to doctor or ER. If your's is constant, go back to doctor. Pay attention to diet and stress, you could have a reaction that is real, don't take the chance, go find out.
My PM was put in in late May, I am tired, dizzy alot, especially in the heat. I have been trying to increase my exercise and get off pain meds. I am wondering if I will get those symptoms back. xxxfingers. Good luck.

I was getting really bad pain on the left and noticed it was worse after not wearing a bra or interrogation where the magnet pulled it down.
I got a really good bra and hoist em high! lol, pain gone! Sometimes keep bra on at night as well.
Give it a try, it might work.

Thank you all so much for your comments. I'm thinking that I'm trying to rush things. I am contacting my doctor and also I have bought a new bra.

Hi LIFEISGOOD, I have similar simptoms, pain in my left breast, doesn't matter sitting or standing or moving and left arm pain, I am two months out and can't use my arm fully. Went to the doctor about four weeks ago, was told this is part of a recovery process. However four weeks down the line the pain is still here...Not quite sure what to do.
I hope it will get better, hope yours is going away too :)

Pain

Hi.
Pain is the body's only way of telling us something is not right.
My suggestion would be to call your cardiologist or your family doctor and ask for a CT scan or at the very least a chest Xray.
Personally - I don't like the response you got from your doctor that women react differently, but that's just my opinion. Pain is pain.
Remember, it's your body and it's almost 2 months since you've received your pacer, so things should have settled down by now. Having a pain rated at 6 should not be acceptable this far into the game..
Does the pain go into your shoulders and do you experience any shortness of breath? Can you lay down okay? Or is the pain there no matter what position you are in?
Just doesn't seem right to me.
Like I've said plenty of times on here - The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Call your doc and don't let them dismiss you!!!!
Take care & good luck,
Pookie
