Am set for a pacemaker implant tomorrow 04/21/11.
Had an OHS seven years ago (03/04) with an Aortic Valve Replacement (Medtronic-Hall) and double bypass. All has been well since. Am currently on Coumadin (7.5mg/day) - Lipitor (20mg/day) - Metropolol (50mg/day) - Aspirin (81mg/day).
Two weeks ago starting feeling bad at workout session - got worse the following day. Saw my personal physician and he made an appointment for the next day to see my Cardiologist. Saw him and he set up an Angiogram for the following Monday (I had to bring my INR-Coumadin level down). The test showed no blockages. Then had a Nuclear stress test on Thursday. Passed this test. So they have decided that the PM is the answer.
My question to the forum is - anyone in somewhat similar circumstances. Biggest concern is recovery time and interaction with meds.
Thanks

I'm new to this as my pacemaker was put in 6 days ago. Still having trouble sleeping. I find it is better if I sit up. I found I could sleep very well, and didn't have to worry about raising my arm. Also it really is sore when I try to get up out of bed. Don't know if this will help you, but I sleep fine.
You know you're wired when...
You need to be re-booted each morning.

Most people feel sore for a few days, better by a week, back to them old selves (or better!) in 4-6 weeks. We're usually told not to lift or raise the left arm (assuming the pm is placed on the left) for 6 weeks or so to give the leads time to grow into place.
There are no meds that you need specifically because you have a pm.
