Recall

A couple of months ago I was told my cardiologist that St. Jude Medical had a recall on some of their devices due to a faulty lead. I'm thankful mine was not part of that recall. I was wondering if anyone out there had to have a lead replacement & what was the experience like? This is a very frightening thought.

I have the St. Jude pacemaker Model PM2110. RV-lead 1688TC/58 and RA-Lead 1688TC/52. Do you know if these were on that recall ? I have a problem with the lead in the bottom . When I work out and golf I can feel the lead beating quite fast. It feels like it's beating against my ribs. They tell me I only use the device 1% of the time. I was informed by a Dr.& Nurse that it needs to to be fixed. But when I saw the Dr. who installed the device and he said no big deal. But the lead could be moved . Have no trust.

You are right not to trust the manufacturers reps. as to your doctors, trust but verify. I had leads relaced by a doctor who much less experience than he led me to believe. I now have an 8 inch piece of lead left inside me permanently. Do your homework and get the most experienced doctor you can find, dont be someones test subject. Keep goof records and a positive attitude, Best of luck to you. kirbyknight@hotmail.com
