my PM moves.

in March, they are going to replace the batteries in my PM, and my new Doctor,is going to go in and "seat" the PM better, when it was put in in 2005, if l turned on my right side while in bed, it would flop forward, in fact l could manualy "pick" it up, (hint:you should not be able to do that!!!!) so l went to my cardologist then,Dr Lewis, here in Syracuse.and he told me it would attach itself in time, well it never did!!!!!!! so my new cardiologist is going to fix it,with mesh to hold it.

your Doctor told you a story

The pacemaker is made with an eyelet to stich it down. I understand some doctors make a practice of throwing them in not sewing them in... so of course they are going to move. there is no need to use mesh to hold it in place a stich will do it. as a matter of fact when I had my pacer revised underthe muscle I aske my doctor about the mesh and he said it makes it more difficult for subsequent moved because of tissue growing into the mesh. I am glad you got yourself a new doctor the old one seemed abit self serving in his explanation.
best of luck

Hi there,

I found your post very interesting because my PM does that too !
l had my PM in April & about 2mths after that it moved about 2" across my chest & since then when l lie on my right it flops forward the worst thing though is when l shower if l have my left arm above my head to wash under my arms & then continue round to my chest it gets knocked because l sometimes forget & if my arm is raised then it flips on its side, not ideal !!!
l have an appt' at the hospital where l had it put in next week so l will ask what if anything needs to be done, the cardiologist l see locally wrote to my GP accusing me of fiddling with it & that is why it moved ????? Why would l want to do that !!!!! Anyway l will be looking out for future posts from you to see how you get on.
Wishing you well, Sue X

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
