---it is a cardiologist with patience and communication skills!
Thorough check and a couple of changes later and the whole world takes on a brighter hue.
The most important change was a lengthening of the ventricular delay which has resulted in ventricular pacing of under 1%. BP dropped form high to normal, headache gone, palpitations and neck pain easily bearable, Sleep and energy much improved. Brain accuity also improved.
Persevere with the holier than thou's and find friendly competent medical advice, it makes all the difference in the world. Wish I had done it sooner. Unfortunately the debacle of the past 3 weeks has left R34 in my medical ins for the rest of the year. It was still worth it to feel human again.
Thanks for all the encouragement.
Here's to a healthy 2012!
Regards
Shirley.

That's the way it's supposed to work

It's amazing what a small change in timing can make. This is true by the way in all sorts of electronic equipment, but it's unusual to get a cardio who understands it.
I sure know what you mean about the world having a brighter hue, and brain acuity. That's the way I felt when they turned mine on in OR.

I just knew something wasn't right and kept on moaning! Eventually the new guy had a good look at the ECG and noticed that I was pacing quite prematurely in the ventricle. The PM wasn't giving my heart a chance. Apparently ventricular pacing is more likely to be felt and to cause discomfort. So we tried lengthening the delay and it worked.
As Frank says even tiny changes can make a difference. So much of this is trial and error.... and every trial costs a consultation!
Heads high and best of luck!
