I had my pacemaker installed in December, the lead came loose, had a sudden cardiac death, the leads have been replaced 3 times now due to them being pulled out. I wore a sling on my arm for 3 weeks to prevent it happening, then at night another week. I slept with my arm over my head so it gets pulled out that way. The lead has moved slightly, so Im waiting to see if I need surgery again. Anyone have any ideas to keep this from happening again?

Loose leads

I couldnt tell, they did testing, and found it that way. I have found a new cardiologist, and am going to have another surgery to repair the leads. Hope to have it scheduled at my appt on Thursday. The leads were screwed into the wall, I remember the surgeon asking where his screwdriver was while I was "under"
The leads are supposed to adhere with scar tissue, so if you.ve had it a while you should be ok, if you are in pain, you should probably call your Dr.
Good luck!

might be your answer. LOL Really, the sling kept my arm where it needed to be. I would think about support wrapping your arm to your torso. Perhaps you can sleep slightly elevated, which would discourage raising your arm up.

I am very happy with mine. I am in the best shape of my life. I lift weights, compete, bike, golf and swim.

How do you know your leads have come out? I also sleep with my arms over my head and I just woke up with quite a bit of pain.
