Epicardial ablation for PSVT?

Hi all,

I just have a question, after 3 ablations for IST they finally got it by doing a epicardial ablation which made me end up with a pacemaker. My "bad" area was located on the outside of the heart. After that surgery I developed accelerated juntional rhythm and PSVT. I recently had a cryoablation last month (which did no good whats so ever and I also ended up with pacemaker syndrome after this surgery) then a heat ablation a couple weeks ago...I felt really good for a couple of days, it was amazing..now its back and stronger than ever. I can't eat, drink, or even talk very much without getting short of breath from the arrythemia.

My question is..is it possible to have an area on the outside of my heart in the lining causing the PSVT? I know you can have VT but not sure about the other. Due to my symptoms are so severe right now they are going back in on wed. When I talked to my drs nurse yesterday I mentioned this to her and she said she was not sure but would talk to the Dr about it and get back with me monday.

Just for the record I tried to take flecainide this week and it sent my heart rate soaring with also headache and dizziness, when I told my dr he said for me not to take anymore, we tried this as just a trial to see if I could tolerate it, it made me feel so horrible!!

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks Holly

Hi Holly,

I read your post last night and frankly your questions are above my paygrade- I know that accelerated junctional is a bear to deal with, a friend is struggling with that, she wants to avoid an AV node ablation if at all possible. Since you are having epicardial ablations, that means you have an open pericardium. Your shortness of breath could be pericarditus.

I wish I could be more helpful, but hang in there and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the comment, so far I have only had one epicardial ablation, the rest were all the endocardial kind. Can you tell me what all your friend has tried for her acclerated junctional? Maybe I can try something that she has tried..I'm running out of options.

thanks
Holly

I Am afraid of Ablation but I wanted to tell you that flecainide also caused me to have major migraines but it bottomed out my HR (30's), I am on Rythmol and have had no headaches from it. IT seems to control arrhythmia well as long as you increase slowly. I took 225mg during the daay for the 1st 2 weeks then 1 AM/PM. I have been on it 2 months and when I weigh ablation to meds I will pick meds at this time.
