This is my second pacemaker since February 2010. Battery went bad after 2 1/2 years. Both I have are from Medtronic. My second one I just had put in on July 3, 2012. Bigger and much more painful than my first one. The old one was model number P1501DR. This new one is model ADDRL1. Lets see how long this one can last. I am very frustrated to have to have this replaced so soon. I guess I should be happy I am alive.

Having pain too

I am curious about your comment that this one is more painful. I just got my PM 2 weeks ago and I keep having chest/shoulder pain. EKGs stress tests ecko cardiographs and perfusion test show a great heart other than signaling. But I feel as though I am having way too much pain. It is in the 4-5 out of ten range.
What kind of pain are you experiencing? Why would it be worse with this PM? Is it common for PM's to hurt when they are actively pacing?
I relate with the happy to be alive. I went asystole while in the hospital trying to get afib under control with meds. That's when they decided to install a PM. I was about to go on vacation to Va beach. Had I gone asystole while swimming, I prolly would have been dragged out to sea to be shark bait.
Stay grateful for all that god has given. Best wishes - Dave

replaced after about 2.5 yrs. Different company but in the good news dept. the 2nd one lasted over 8 yrs & I am paced at 100%. Now on my 3rd & it is a year old this month. Hope you have better luck as I have had. And,yes, I am happy to be alive & active. Hope this helps.
