Electrical Pain

I had CRT-P installed Aug 2012. on rt side. Surgeon left old pacemaker (on left side) intact, but deactivated it. Starting last nite: quick, shooting jolts of pain lasting 1/3 to 1/2 second. These bursts occur every 15 to 145 seconds apart. They then completely disappear. INCREDIBLY, THE PAIN HITS ONLY ON THE TOP SURFACE OF MY RIGHT FOOT! No pain at the implant area. Pulse & B/P OK- pacing at 70 as IRD was set.

Called Pacemaker Clinic. He stated "...pain in foot would not be caused bythe IRD device...".

Called St Jude technical. Response was the same.

Anyone have ideas or theories?

May be an over-simplification

but if it were me I'd get seen by my GP & if that fails a foot Doc. It may be the CRT-P but as they all say its not that, get an opinion from another doc or 2 about what it is.I sure hope you get an answer & a fix really fast.

Pain can travel down a nerve, and hit a long way from site of pain or injury. I know as this has happened to me. Just a thought. Definitely go to your GP. It could be anything.

Have you recently had to lie in a single position for a greater than usual length of time? Have you a history of spinal issues at L5-S1 level? This area could theoretically cause nerve issues that include the foot area you described. If it persists, visit an orthopedic or neuro surgeon for etiology and diagnosis. Good luck; let us know what you find out.
