Things will settle in and it should get to where it's painless and less noticeable. Everyone is different but it can be anywhere from 6 week to 6 months or more.
If a wire comes loose, you will feel the way you did before you got the pm. If you pace a lot, it will be obvious. If you don't pace much, you may not feel a difference. They can tell immediately when they interrogate the pm if the leads are ok.
ICD's are considerably larger than pacemakers.
thank you so much for the info

This is all a learning experience and i so appreciate the feedback and please know how much better it makes me feel to be able to ask people that can actually know what i am feeling..
You know you're wired when...
You invested in the Energizer battery company.

I've had my ICD for 5 months now, It still is bulging out of my chest not sure how long it takes them to settle in lower. Now after 1 1/2 to 2 months once the soreness started to go away I was able to sleep on both side comfortably. Your device i see is a medtronic same as I, not sure of other brands but medtronics have an alarm in them to let you know if there is a problem with the device. I think they set mine to go off at 10:30 a.m. if there are problems. If you haven't been in for your follow up appnt yet, they'll hook you up to a laptop and go over everything with you and sound your alarm so you know what it sounds like and adjust volume so you are able to hear it.
