Neck and Shoulder pain/discomfort
Morning All,
Since yesterday, I have been having severe neck and shoulder pain. I've taken Advil and it did nothing. I soaked in the tub last night - still no relief. I was able to sleep pretty comforably last night but once I got up this morning; the pain came back. I don't have my ICD yet - will get it next Tues. July 16th. I'm wondering if these muscles aches are a result of the cardiomyopathy. Anyone know? Thanks.

Please go to ER now or contact your doctor immediately. With no relief from what you have tried, you may be having symptoms of a heart attack. Please do.not delay seeking medical advice. Will be thinking of you. Hopeful Heart

Both women and men can experience varied heart attack symptoms. While women seemingly differ more than men, when in doubt men, please seek medical care. One man's experience immediately comes to mind. He thought he had pulled a nagging shoulder muscle doing yard work.Yes, he was having a heart attack. I speak from heartbreaking experience. My daughter is with God because she mistakingly thought she was just having a really bad asthma attack. I am crying as I write this, but I know that if it saves even one life, she would feel honored. Hopeful Heart

I'm about to call my cardio now. I don't feel sick at all. I have no pain down my arm. It's just that the entrie back across my shoulders are stiff and tight! I will keep you guys posted. I'm at work now. Thanks so much!

I'm so sorry about your daughter. God Bless you and her. Thank you for your advice. I am certainly taking this serious. I have put a call in to my cardio and have alerted my office mates of how I am feeling. Thank you all so much.
Heart attack??

Well it doesn't sound like a heart attack to me but you never know -- especially in women. When in doubt check it out. Let us know.
I'm fine

Checked in w/my cardio. The pain was not heart related. She thinks there is some inflamation so perscribed a muscle relaxer which really helped. This morning I'm still a bit tight and sore but I feel so much better than I did yesterday. Thanks to you all.

Thanks for the advice. I used a neck pillow that I totally forgot I had. I put it in the microwave and placed it around my neck. It felt good! I'm going to try ice this evening when I get home. Hubby also gave me a massage and it basically put me right to sleep! He even cleand the dinner dishes so I was able to relax. I really think that this stress related. I'm so stressed about Tuesday when I have the ICD surgery. My daughters birthday is Monday and she's been away visiting her Auntie for the last few weeks. She returns tomorrow and wants to do all these outside activities for her birthday. I tried explaining that I can't be outside in the heat for long periods of time - I start to have shortness of breath and I get so uncomfortable. I only have a few days left before surgery. I just want it done and over with so that I can move on and feel comfortable that I have something helping my heart. I appreciate all of you. Thanks for you support, advice and concern.
