Had a good weekend
Hi All,
I worked in my yard over the weekend. I've had my ICD since July 16th of this year. It felt so good to be able to do yard work w/out experiencing shortness of breath. I feel as though I have so much energy and I'm constantly doing all the things that I could barely do before the ICD. I'm thankful and my family was so happy to know that I'm feeling better and stronger!
Today I feel pretty good. My ICD tends to move a bit when I first wake up in the morning and my shoulder and left arm are stiff. I continue to take my Tylenol extra strength whenever I'm uncomfortable.
I have my home monitor and the EP office finally got it all programmed and working. So things are moving along!

I'd take the Tylenol, too, as it's important to be able to move around without pain. Otherwise, you end up in a relieving posture that could in turn cause other issues (back, neck and shoulder pain etc.).
Good that you got the monitor set up. I have heard from a couple of ICD patients who just feel more safe with this, and there was also a study published recently that showed that home monitoring can help reduce the number of inappropriate shocks:

Hope you continue to do so well!
Best wishes

Stiffness
by Acin - 2013-08-06 04:08:59
Igna,
The stiffness is my major complaint and that only occurs in the morning and towards the afternoon while at work. I sit at a desk and type a lot during the day. I try to take short walks throughout the day to stretch. I still cannot lift my left arm and I so wish I could! I feel like it needs a good stretch! The Tylenol does work for me.
Thanks for the info on the home monitoring system.
Good for you Acin!

So glad to hear you are progressing well. Your outlook has improved so much.
Time and some fresh air and sunshine work wonders.
My ICD moves too, especially if I do certain exercises.
Great attitude!!

I received my home monitor when I went for my follow up exam. They gave it to me. I have an ICD - not a pacemaker; I think they are slightly different. Not sure if it's called an ekg monitor though. It monitors my heart while im in the house and transmitts recordings to my EP through the phone line.

I did a ton of yardwork also this past weekend.. I;m really glad you are doing so much better. Nothing like being outside and soaking up some sun...( well, when it's not raining anyway...we've had too much rain here lately )...however, once again, it's wonderful to see you outdoors, and up and moving again...take care...
