Does any one know where I can buy a hand held ekg monitor that pace maker compatible? I just received on and the first things it said in the instructions was not to use with a pace maker. aj2147@yahoo.com

Don't go running off to Tibet w/ heart drugs that customs may not like you carrying around - or anywhere, for that matter.

Travelling with medication etc.

There may be some confusion as to the meaning of a drug- which in the above account means medication.
Having been travelling around the world with my medication, I have not encountered any problems- perhaps because the medication is not liquid, and is blister packed in the original foil packaging in labelled boxes with my name on the label and instructions for taking. Antimalarials are sometimes essential etc.A lot of people travel with medication If you are concerned, here in the UK your family doctor would be able to write you a letter to take with you as a sort of certificate for your medical needs in the event of further enquiries being made on entering a country ( however I have never been in this position personally).
Like a lot of people, I travel with a 'first-aid' kit - this includes a few emergency drugs for the heart should there be an arrhythmia when I am in the middle of nowhere. It is a good idea to know where decent medical services are available should you be travelling to less developed countries. Of course you need travel insurance for your medical needs.
You should always discuss the use of emergency medication with your doctor. To have a frank discussion of your travel plans prior to booking your trip, with your doctor, is a good idea. Not only can you be advised about what to do if xyz happens, but you may also get other travel advice ( just how does altitude affect the onset of atrial fibrillation etc, what are the problems of taking a diuretic in a hot country?...etc)
Enjoy travelling and do not be put off by travelling with your medication, glucose meter, anticoagulation meter, and if needed hand held ECG machine. The end justifies the means.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.

Mine is pacemaker safe:
'Bioscope-C' - pocket size ECG unit. Beware they are not cheap- cost in euros from my paperwork was 458.00. Came with free gift chocolates!
Bought a few years ago now from www.farlamedicaluk.com
Still working well and I am still alive having used it!
I take it on vacation with me when I go to the middle of no where ( recent return from Tibet where medical facilities are limited) with a reasonable supply of 'first-aid' drugs for the heart should I develop an arrhythmia.
