Hey, neighbors!
I posted a little while ago about getting an ICD. My surgery was on Friday and it went fabulously. It hasn't been too painful, just a little sore at times. Sleeping is the only complaint I have. It's only comfortable to sleep on my back. Wearing a bra is no problem. My hospital stay was amazing. It was like staying at a hotel, even the food was good. I appreciate all the thought and prayers! Just wanted to let y'all know that I was doing okay And I can testify that the surgery isn't bad at all! Don't be scared!

Courtney, thank you for updating us on your surgery. I had been wondering how you were doing. Very happy to hear that your surgery went so well and that you feel good. As for sleeping, I hear ya!! It took me about four weeks before I could sleep on my stomach again. I did sleep on my right side with a pillow right beside me that kept me from rolling all the way over onto my stomach.
Glad to hear your doctor was so innovative with the incision. At your age those kinds of decisions are important. Visit the site often and you will now be able to help others who are going through the same thing.
St. Paul

I was at St. Paul (connected to UT Southwestern) in Dallas, TX. There was over 50 options on the menu and I wasn't on ANY diet restrictions. (Rare for me because of the Crohn's) It really was like a restaurant though. I guess the true test would have been scrambled eggs. I didn't order any though because I've had scrambled eggs in a hospital before and I'm pretty sure they were nuclear. I wasn't willing to try again.
Dunno where hers is, but...

...try St John's in St Louis.
Cafeteria is excellent. While former D-i-L was in there giving birth, we even elected to eat there one evening because it was as good as any restaurant we'd found at a reasonable price.
Otherwise, right on. I'd swear they serve leftovers from WW-II K rations.
In one hosp in Atlanta, I think I saw leftovers from Viet Nam - even called it the same thing. Their name for it was fit to be used here on this site - mine would have been deleted by a moderator...

Best part of staying in the hospital was being waited on 24/7 !

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
My Incision
by CFozzy - 2013-09-23 06:09:53
I forgot to mention about my incision. From what I had researched about, a lot of ICD scars are horizontal and just below the collar bone. My surgeon actually made mine vertical close to my armpit. I still have a bandage over it but I'm assuming that any tank top will cover the scar completely. He said that the vertical scar will help because in his terms, as I get older, "gravity" will catch up with me and pull downwards on the scar, tending to make it wider.
