some pain -

Hello: I had a pacemaker/defibrillator implant in September. Lately I've had some pain in the area. Hard to describe - anyone else have pain 6 months after surgery? Also - I've been having some mood swings. I have a cardiologist appointment next week, so I guess I'll ask him, but just curious what others have experienced. Thanks -

Thanks - it's nice to know someone else is having a similar experience. I'll try the Tylenol!

Still got some pain

Got mine in October, 2013. It's now over five months. Over this past weekend I had pain in the PM site as well as some nasty itching. I'll also get different sensations depending upon the weather. And, since I'm doing different exercising, I'll get weird sensations.

As long as I'm not experiencing sharp pain or am running a fever, I just ignore it. When it gets annoying, I'll take a Tylenol. That seems to help. Aspirin if it gets real bad. (But I'm not supposed to take too much aspirin because of blood thinners.)

Still have a tendency to drop off at a moment's notice. But hey, if I wasn't running around doing all this stuff I wouldn't get tired.

For mood swings, I'm on a standard vitamins and some bio stuff. While scientific "testing" says there is no benefit, B complex vitamins seem to help me. Vitamin supplements aren't for everyone - and I'm not on the far out stuff.

Hope this helps.

Still ask your cardio guy - see what he/she thinks.

pain

OMG! I got my Medtronic pm in September and have not had a single pain free day. I am up to 4 aleve daily. The cardio definitely caused nerve damage when implanted. I stopped posting because I have nothing good to say. I am deep in depression, cry every day and have an overwhelming sense of hopelessness because everyday I find more things I can no longer do. I felt indestructible the day before I was sent to the hospital for syncope. No symptoms, no issues. Now I am on antidepressants, go to therapy (not helpful) and am struggling waiting for another bad diagnosis (possible long qt syndrome). I am going to post a question about this soon.
Anyway, i wanted to tell you that you are not alone! I want to believe it will get better, but the doctors refuse to give me any hope of that.
hang in there.
Judy

Thank You -

Thanks to all who posted -

I feel better (mentally) - might have had something to do with the weather - now that spring has sprung, I feel much better and optimistic :)

As for the pain, no I haven't been diagnosed with damaged nerve - do I mention this to my cardiologist? I just went for an echo today to check my e/f - hoping that my heart is getting stronger, though, I've been told to focus on living to the fullest with what I have -

My heart is 70% damaged - a little scary - but I know others have it worse.

To Judy - find another therapist. I have a therapist who helps a lot. And although I drive my wife crazy with the "what ifs," she always listens and calms my fears. That's one area where I am so lucky.

Wishing you ALL - all the best - thanks again! Alan
