Choosing PM Brand

by SMITTY - 2014-01-31 05:01:38

Hello Michael,

I say you want one your dr. is most familiar with, or the one he recommends. My cardiologist told me, they all do about the same thing but some may do it slightly different from the others.

Since a pacemaker has the potential for several hundred different settings the last thing I would want is my dr. looking over my new pacemaker and thinking "Although it is a different brand from the one I implanted in old Bob, I wonder if this setting will give the same results as it does on the one I implanted in him."

Therefore I say let the dr. choose the brand of pacemaker you get.

Good luck,

Smitty

Michael

Choosing an ICD

I would generally agree with listening to your doctor, but you can do some of your own research and find out what some different ones can/can't do. For example, I wasn't exactly awake when mine was chosen, but if given options and some time, I would have gone with a St. Jude device rather than my Medtronic, because they are rated to a significantly deeper underwater depth.

You know you're wired when...

You have a shocking personality.
