Hi Folks,
I have a Medtronic ICD, am paced at 55 bpm and have no upper limit. Lately I feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest when exercising and am wondering what my heart rate is. Usually when I stop to take it I find it is about 130 bpm which seem very low for the amount I am exerting myself. I am just generally curious and with all the new technology available this is something I may be able to do all the time.
I have read that a Fitbit works with and ICD and a couple friends love them. It is quite pricey though and some of the reviews are contradictory.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

I use a FitBit

And I have an ICD. There are some other options; I also have an app on my phone that uses the flash to take my pulse. The down side of that app is that I have to stop what I am doing to use it (can't get pulse while moving). The FitBit provides me with a constant readout of my heart rate. It does screw up occassionally, either not showing a reading or showing exceptionally high heart rate, but by repositioning and/or cleaning the sensors it goes back to where it should be.
Just researched fitness trackers for my son. He settled on another brand that is waterproof, but it does not provide heart rate, which is what I was looking for most. He paid about the same price I did for the FitBit Surge.
Fit bit works well

I've had a dual lead PM for over 2 years. I used a MIO Alpha monitor for a year and was pleased but the Fit Bit HR I now use has a lot of capability that MIO does not. The accuracy of the HR feature is good. My EP doc wears one too!
Love my fitbit

I dont really work out but use it to track average heart rate through time. It does a fantastic job. My pm is set at 50 with no upper limit. On occasions where i do work out it is always on track when comparing against the stationary bike's heart monitor.
Mio Fuse

I use the MIO Fuse, works great, even when biking hard!
Only Defib is turned on for me. My EF factor was down to below 15% I was working out personal trainer and bike riding at the time.
Now I'm above 30% EF rating. Biking for me was key I think, I'm scared about lead damage for weight lifting, but I think I have to get over that. Missing weights.
I'm 50 and usually like to keep my heart rate 110-170(max). Normally I go about 120-140. The Mio fuse always on mode works great I can actively monitor my BPM.
My card. told me the ICD will go off over 200bpm. I've been in the mid 170's at times and now start shutting myself down if I get above 160.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.

I was at a stress test recently and monitored my Fitbit with their readings. It was pretty spot on and we were impressed with its accuracy.
