Refraction rate

Has anyone had their refraction rate to improve after having a ICD unit put in? My refraction rate is 20%.

Yes becky, some of us have seen improvement. My EF was 24%....it is now 55%. No one has 100%. A normal EF is considered 60-70%. It is important to go by how you feel. Many people function fine with a lower EF.

I hope you see improvement as well.

1st echo post implant

Pleased to report that 4 months after CRT-D implant ( echo done yesterday) my EF has moved from 25% to 35/40%.
Believe there have been a number of factors in this, not least the device itself, but also getting off my butt for the first time in 20 odd years and exercising.
I feel so much better.
Additionally diabetes numbers are radically improved from the exercise.

I'm on my second CRT-D. My EF went from 10-15% to 20% and crept up over the first 4 years to 45%. I am now on my second device and stable at 45%.

Without the CRT-D...I would be dead.

Normal EF

My ejection fraction was less than 20% when I was diagnosed with CHF. After receiving my 1st pacemaker (had my 3rd in 10 years last September) I returned to a normal EF within about a year. My EP doctor said that was not something he sees all the time but it does happen. Good luck!

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
