Fell

I have a Medtronic pacemaker implanted January 2015. Fell backwards Wednesday afternoon at home. I called my cardiologist to make sure I didn't dislodge the leads and they said no over the phone.

Can leads be dislodged>

When I called the doctor I said I was going to transmit to be sure - he said no - wait until your next appt later this month. My left upper arm/shoulder is painful - basically everything is sore waist up.

Thank you for your comments.

You're going to need

You're going to need a much more severe shock to the body to dislodge the leads. Something like a severe car accident. In which case you'd have more problems than just a dislodged lead.

By this time your leads are firmly in place and you'd need the laser surgery to have them removed.

We have people skydiving with a pacemaker - without dislodging the leads. That's a much more severe shock than just falling down.

Besides, if you did dislodge the leads, you'd have problems with your heart not pacing. You didn't mention that in your post so it's another indication everything is OK.

Bet you're sore from falling down. Hope you feel better soon.

To be on safe side I would have a device check as my husband fell out of the bath and two of his ICD leads were broken-I think his is a rare case but he had no symptons at all until he had routine check. He had had his ICD just over 2 years but they took the old leads and device out and he had a new one put in and he his recovering well.Hope you feel better soon.

Anything is possible

I partially pulled a lead out a year after implantation while at the gym. It was pretty clear something had happened because i didn't feel very good after. If your HR is responding to your PM, you're likely OK, save for the sore muscles.
